Martinez wants to fight violence against women
With the recent events Martinez wants to take a stand against violence on women. I think it's a great idea for those in a violent relationship, and also for boxing as a whole. Maybe boxing will start to do something about fighters issues outside the ring. The NBA, and NFL will suspend someone for "X" amount of time for off field issues, maybe boxing will too. Good job Martinez!!

It's cool just to hear a boxer is standing up for a cause. I rarely hear about them doing stuff and this certainly is one deserving of more attention.
Re: Martinez wants to fight violence against women
Agreed this is good including the timing of it.
Re: Martinez wants to fight violence against women
We had a poster here way back who used to fight amateur exhibition bouts for battered women, he was a great guy hopefully he comes back. Same division as Martinez too.
Re: Martinez wants to fight violence against women
haha that's exactly what I thought of when I saw this.
How great would it be if we could track down RicanChamp (:cwm13:), I remember he used to post torso pictures but I'm not sure that would really be that helpful. He was a pasty white Puerto Rican, at least torso wise.

Well excuse my cynicism here but what the fuck is a professional fighter going to have to offer on the subject of battered women?
It's like Katie Price and Alex Reid announcing they are going to tackle global warming or Britney Spears uniting with Madonna and Puff Daddy to bring an end to war.

Well for starters, and mind you I havent been following professional boxing for a long time, but certainly lately there seems to be a lot of news regarding wife battering, abusing and overall shit treating of women up to and including murdering by boxers. Just seems way more frequent then i hear of say...hockey players here. Maybe with soccer players there?
Ya sure violence, of course domestic violence finds its way into every facet of life regardless of social stature or public awareness, but when its ugly light shines on a sport already associated with, well violence, surely it can't hurt?
Less ofc he decides to hack some random group of women up before the year is out, i spose.
