John Murray to fight Gary Buckland on 7th May
John Murray will be fighting Gary Buckland for the vacant EBU European Lightweight Title on the 7th May. Never seen Buckland fight before, and this is certainly not the step up I like to see Murray take, but atleast he's fighting.
I'm definately goin anyways. Will be taking place at the Altrincham Leisure Centre.
Re: John Murray to fight Gary Buckland on 7th May
Looking at bucklands record on boxrec expect this one to go the full distance with murray possibly being the classier fighter and winning over a decision
Re: John Murray to fight Gary Buckland on 7th May
He needs to leave Hennessey. The end.

I really like John, maybe not an elite level fighter but he absolutely brings it every time and is in it to show the fans a fight. He could put on some top fights against the likes of Katsidis, Diaz and Marquez + the like, but there is something just not right with Hennessey IMO. If Froch falls from grace, Hennessey will be in the shit, as Darren barker is certainly not gonna hold him up, no way. I'm gonna always have my fingers crossed for John that things don't just fritter off like they did for Moore after having too many domestic battles.
John should make some serious noise and push for a match-up with the Mitchell - Katsidis winner and up the game.

It's not like he wouldn't get picked up by another promoter. He's a decent enough fighter. I would have thought he'd be perfect for Hatton promotions, given he's a big City fan and he's a Manc like Ricky. Similar style aswell.

LMAO........ He would would fit in great with Hatton promotions I'd say for sure. Wonder how signed he is to Hennessey in terms of contract length or would it just be loyalty ya think?

You'd think Hatton could take care of the red tape anyway.

ONO shouted Hatton originally man.....
The only thing I'm not liking about Hatton, and I know its business, but he's traveling around putting cards on all over and has barely put on a card in Manchester for months and months aside from Crolla fighting at the Midland Hotel in some white collar event.. I find that really dissapointing to be honest, but i see what he's trying to do, picking up fans and fighters from all around for his shows and building something bigger than Manchester, just don't forget about the people.
Re: John Murray to fight Gary Buckland on 7th May
On this fight, I have a number of a dude who I've been told to ring to get tickets, but I thought i'd just check Hennessey Sports site to see what thr deal was. Now on Micks site they don't even have the fight scheduled, never mind tickets available. Has Murray already left Hennessey I wonder, or maybe they just haven't updated the site yet... Can't seem to find any info on it but gonna keep digging.
Re: John Murray to fight Gary Buckland on 7th May
John Murray is decent but he's very one dimensional, and he won't ever make it to the elite level. Does anyone remember the gift decision he got off Youssef Al Hamidi ? thats really worrying IMO, it shows he can't adapt.

I don't think anyone has ever preached that he'll be elite, he brings it though, and is a great fighter for the fans and has definate potential to entertain any boxing fan willing to watch. He has taken fights at short notice, Al Hamidi being a prime example, and has been close to going to hell and back John Duddy style due to it I think. He nearly went there with Munguia some time back when he had his debut in the States. Someone like Micky Ward was never elite, but he came to fight and gave (atleast me) some awesome fights that i'll never forget.

Not saying that mate im just saying he needs to learn some new dimension's, like moving his head. Use his footwork to create angles, use the jab, ETC.
He's far too one dimensional, and i think he could actually be a better fighter. If he learnt more of the craft, because he's a very sturdy strong guy, and he could be quite a force.
David Diaz vs John Murray would be a cracking fight, and a decent step up for John Murray.

Absolutely man, not a dig atall...... I think he could improve too. I also think that more fights and leaving Hennessey would help him learn more too, as he might be able to get more fighhts. Inactivity is killing any potential he may have IMO.
