2 Diamond Belt Champions?


WBC President Jose Sulaiman has announced that the WBC will offer the WBC Diamond Belt to the Mayweather-Mosley winner and be recognized as WBC Diamond world champion. “In history, there has been only one world champion who has won the WBC Diamond Belt, Manny Pacquiao,” said Sulaiman in a statement. “The winner of Mayweather vs. Mosley also deserves to be crowned as WBC Diamond world champion.”

What’s interesting about this decision is the fact that although Manny Pacquiao already holds the WBC Diamond Belt world championship at welterweight, Mayweather-Mosley will not be for an “interim” WBC Diamond Belt world championship. In essence, the WBC would be awarding the same belt and same title to another fighter in the same division as Pacman.

Think its becoming more and more clear to even these tired hacks that these belts have become irrelevant and a dime a dozen...its like they are clamoring to cash in as much as possible before the fighters themselves tell them to go sit and spin on sharp objects.Their days are numbered....keep calling em on it.

Another 6 months and there will be a third diamond welterwieght belt. We as fans know the belts don't mean shit, and you know it's bad when the fighters don't care if they fight for a belt or not. Mayweather Mosley is not for the WBA belt because Mayweather could care less, and doesn't want to pay the ridiculous fees.

Belts stood for so much back in the day, now they are just decorative pieces of metal with leather... This totally bums me out!

One condition for awarding these belts, Mr Sullimain...

My boy Sergio Martinez gets to be the Jr Middle and Middle weight champ of both weights, and and he gets a tattoo of the Diamond belt on his arm, and if someone comes along with a really good record in the next year they have to fight in an elemination tournament for a few minor belts that are basically the birthstones of each month. Of course this would all happen each month on the month, and if one person is fighting on their birthstone month... you guessed it... They get another belt if IF IF they win 2 months in a row.

I could just go on forever. This is so fun
