Exiting stuff here at the moment.
We got a 15 meter blue whale washed up only 1 km down the beach from my favorite surf break.
My mate was out there last week and a ten foot great white came out of the water and glared at him (he fell off his board). :embarassed: :spongebob:
Another mate tells me that the fisheries have tracked via sat nav another great white they call g.20.
G 20 was tagged a few years back in Glenelg in south Australia and was 20 feet long at the time.
So now we got two proven GW's here at Flinders, minimum!
Went surfing there today at low tide (so the cunts cant swim into 2 to 3 feet depth) rocks r everywhere too so I'm pretty safe, I stand on a rock about a 1/2 a kilometer off shore and wait until I see a set wave I fancy then jump off paddle out 20 feet to the impact zone quickly turn and Im into a pitching barrell.
But it got overcast and rainy so Im praying for company out there, seemed to have worked well every time someone went in another person entered the water to keep me company so basically I've been out all morning in perfect little tubes with only 2 to 3 people out the whole time!
Its like dying and going back to the seventies: Heaven perfect empty waves :domo-kun:
Just shareing a day in the life of our coast.
Re: Exiting stuff here at the moment.
This is our coast: look at the bottom lot of pictures thats where we surf (Its like Ireland isnt it).

Sharks frighten the fucking life out of me. I remember watching Jaws when it came out, never had a Bath for 2 years ;D.
Re: Exiting stuff here at the moment.
I remember Jaws well mate we went to the drive in to watch it then drove down and slept at Flinders there in the picture.
Went out at dawn and some dolphins rounded us up in the water and did the full circle around us . We were petrified and even though we knew they dolphins we ended up cutting the surf short and hit Flinders pub and the pool table instead.
There are limits. I would not go out right in front of that whale at the moment either as some still do, like in that story.
To be honest I'd go down in a screaming heap if one got me bad.
Re: Exiting stuff here at the moment.
I've never seen pictures of the coast over your side of town... Looks really great! The pictures where the green grass and monuments are close to the sand is very similar to Queenscliff, which is the point that curls around on this side of the entrance to the bay.. The more hilly rocky parts look very similar to the more surf beaches here like Torquey and Bells beach etc...
Been a good 4 or 5 years since i've been down to the ocean.. Time for a road trip I feel when we have a nice weekend... Totally missed out on summer though.. But the beach is inviting no matter the weather... Never seen the coast during a lighting storm but I think that would be pretty amazing watching lighting crack out over the ocean..
Re: Exiting stuff here at the moment.
Are you going to take pictures on top of the big whale??
"We need a marine biologist!" ;D

We get water spouts sometimes at Flinders. I know every inch of this coast.
You should come over our side for a day.Come through Mornington then head to Flinders, Red hill for the best apples and strawberries, pinot noir. Then flinders bakery for lunch or the pub. Do some fishing off the pier or walk out to the heads around the end of western port bay, noone goes there; make love on the beach. Then drive out of the coast the other way towards Hastings go to the end of cliff road in Shoreham park and go for a walk to the right through the pine forest the view to the left is the best in the world some days,go down to the beach turn left and walk around the cliffs down the beach under your car, then about 2oo yards along that beach make love again, then once you reach the next point go inland for 100 meters into the Shoreham caravan park and then turn left up their road and follow it all the way back to where you parked your car and you will hold our coast higher than any other.
Just dont vist here on an easterly, south east or southerly ,all the other winds are fine and smooth the ocean off, bring a camera.

Funny that mate, there is a golf course right above where that whale has landed! You have to drive through it to get to the whale. Maybe just maybe it was a Titlist that took him out!
Re: Exiting stuff here at the moment.
I live miles from the coast and it is cold here. I would love to live near the coast and hot weather. Spain is the closest to that I have experienced.
Re: Exiting stuff here at the moment.
Did they remove the whale??
Re: Exiting stuff here at the moment.
No its too big to move; its rotting away.the high swells on high tides eat at it and it has little rocks washing into its decaying flesh and theres an oil slick, but idiots still surf right in front of it! It stunk from over a mile away last week (thats as close as this idiot will surf to it). Theres warning signs up that you can get legionarres and other airborn diseases from it too.
No more shark sightings though.
