Froch facing trip to Berlin to fight Abraham?
Now that Froch Abraham is two losers fighting with no title on the line Froch doesn't have the WBC belt as a bargaining chip. And with the strength of the Euro, the fact that the O2 in Berlin is twice the size of the Nottingham Arena, and the fact that Sauerland have far more financial muscle than Fat Mick, the O2 Berlin looks like the likely venue. Abraham is already quoted on boxingscene saying the fight will end up there and judging by Sauerland father and son's ecstatic reaction in the ring at the final bell (how the hell did that old fucker get in there so quick?) I'm guessing the Sauerlands think they can swing it to Berlin. Those guys both looked like they'd hit the jackpot last night.
As far as I know the Super Six rules just say the venue has to be mutually agreed between the promoters. WBC sanctioning rules would favour Froch getting ti where he wants but they're no longer applicable so it'll come down to money, probably. Every fight so far in the Super Six has been won by the home fighter so it's something to watch.
Re: Froch facing trip to Berlin to fight Abraham?
This seemed pretty obvious beforehand. Froch is nothing without that belt.
They started arguing about it at the press conference.
Mick claims the fight is in Nottingham. Sauerland says Berlin. Mick says they had an agreement. Sauerland says the contract is for Europe not Nottingham.
Froch says he's not fighting in Germany.
Oh dear...
Re: Froch facing trip to Berlin to fight Abraham?
If Froch fights anywhere but Nottingham he will get knocked out.
Re: Froch facing trip to Berlin to fight Abraham?
This is where it gets messy as the fight is so important as the loser will probably be out.
Moneys on Berlin we all no what Fat Mick is like.
Re: Froch facing trip to Berlin to fight Abraham?
I'm hoping for Nottingham as I wanted to go to see this fight. Best just keep fingers crossed.

Whats wrong with a neutral territory?

That would be a fair solution. I see nothing wrong with that. But where? The US would be sound, but is a long way for the fans to go for a neutral venue. Might prove tricky to work out.
Re: Froch facing trip to Berlin to fight Abraham?
There will be tough negotiations, should be solved maybe away fighter gets bigger slice of the purse. With the WBC/WBA belts tied up in the tourney dont think neither can afford to think of pulling out, especially Froch at his age. Tournaments been a great success so far IMO
Re: Froch facing trip to Berlin to fight Abraham?
The belt lost sank away a lot of negotiation power away from Froch. IF there is the choice between a 5000 or a 10-15000 seaters, I think that it'll be a no brainer and business wise, as scary as Germany is for the results, it's the most viable option. If I was Fat Mick, I would say that I can negociate for Germany IF the 3 judges are all neutral (or at least not more than one from Germany) with a neutral referee in the ring. That would be my sine qua non condition. Not sure if the fatty can think and manage that though

Just read Fat Mick seems to think because Froch was the WBC Champ going in he has a contract that says he has two of his three fights at home. If that is the case it should be but I think he woudn't of been arsed if he had won last night but now it's a must win fight.

If that's the case, it's quite interesting and then he might be right. We should have the answer within a couple of weeks as they have to start working on that right now.
Re: Froch facing trip to Berlin to fight Abraham?
Auf Wiedersehen Frochy!!! Abraham is gonna wear your ass out!!!
Re: Froch facing trip to Berlin to fight Abraham?
Accoring to this the fat man only has a verbal agreement with Sauerland for the fight to be in Nottingham :
Carl Froch: count me out of Berlin bout - Times Online
Verbal agreements aren't worth the paper they're written on. Looks like it's off to Berlin for big nose.
Re: Froch facing trip to Berlin to fight Abraham?
Fraud is quoted as saying
"It has already been agreed that I would fight at home, fight away and a fight back at home. It has been agreed with Ken Hershman at Showtime."
Yeah something tells me Abraham has the same agreement. To Germany it is.
