Mike Perez wins twice in the one night!
I was checking the undercard results from the Andy Lee card and noticed that Cuban
Mike Perez fought twice and won twice! he first beat Edgars Kalnars inside a minute then later beat Thomas Marzek in three rounds ;D
I can't imagine this happens to often, possibly trying to build up his record quickly :-\
anyway pretty impressive even though they were both journey men.
Re: Mike Perez wins twice in the one night!
Well, after his first win within 50 seconds it's no surprise that the promoter wanted value for money, and threw him out again in another fight! Good effort, though I strongly doubt he was at all taxed in the first fight. They probably had somebody else pull out leaving the odd heavyweight opponent there.
Re: Mike Perez wins twice in the one night!
There was an article on here before the fight saying he would be the first man ever to fight twice as a pro on the same card. Others that had fought twice on the same card before had one of the matches as exhibitions.
Re: Mike Perez wins twice in the one night!
Fair play to him!
Would have been even more impressive if they both turned out better opponents than expected and he had two 12 rounders!
Re: Mike Perez wins twice in the one night!
I remember seeing some old footage of George Foreman fighting 5 guys in one day. I think it was exhibition fights but he knocked em all out I believe.
Re: Mike Perez wins twice in the one night!
I have the download for George Foreman fighting and beating 5 men in one night. If you want it give me a buzz.;D
Re: Mike Perez wins twice in the one night!
Is that serious, the promoter actually arranged him two fights on the same night beforehand?
That's some confidence in your fighter.

Yep, Perez looks like a class act, one of them Cuban defectors. Definitely one to keep an eye on in the future at heavyweight! Serious power and great skills, and only 25 years old. Former amateur star too...
It was definitely planned for him to fight twice, as he had his picture taken with both fighters at the weigh-in.
(Perez in the middle...)

Re: Mike Perez wins twice in the one night!
Seeing this as part of a promotional ploy, rather than just a late pullout by another fighter makes me very cynical about the opposition he was put in with. Yes it got a few headlines, but these are the Eastern Europeans that are the cannon fodder for other British prospects in their 2nd or 3rd fights.
A decent regional fighter would have given him more rounds and more experience, but hey, less headlines.
