lion vs gorilla

who would win in a fight, a fully grown male lion and fully grown male silverback gorilla. Both weigh around the 170kg mark, personally I think the lion as it has more weapons e.g claws and razor sharp teeth, one bite to the neck I think the gorilla would be done, silverbacks r strong as hell tho and they can fight, would be a good scrap IMO.

Or how about a bear vs a lion or a gorilla, keep in mind these would all weigh 170 kg so it's fair

for the Lion vs Gorilla, I think that in a normal circumstance, the Lion has a good chance to win due to his stronger jaw and razor sharp claws. There is always a change that the gorilla slams on his back and crack the spine but in a general situation, Lion wins.

As for the Bear-Lion-Gorilla, the at 170 the bear would have a disadvantage as he's not as mobile as the other ones and his balance isn't that great either due to the length of the fore legs. At his normal size though, the bear (especially Grizzly or Polar) normally wins against all the others due to thickness of his skin, size and overall power. I don't recall when exactly but I remember that I've seen a documentary where they were discussing these things and they were saying that because of the factors I specified, the bear would normally win though in the nature with these kind of beasts, anybody at some point could potentially pull a win.

In terms of the bear it would really be heavily dependant on the type of bear. There are so many types and some of them ie Panda's are really quite docile. But some types of bear can get to in excess of 500 kilo's. A lion would be having it rough if he doesn't get the first strike in effectively enough. A bear like that would be significantly stronger IMO. I could see the solitary lion running away.

I don't know about the gorilla as I know far less about them.

Yeah, bears are fascinating, I was watching a BBC documentary about them the other day. I love how some of the daddy bears live solitary lives and try to eat the cubs if they come into contact with them. What do the mothers ever see in these brutes? ;D

Good stuff guys, I think if u didn't count the weight factor then a half ton grizzly would win everyday of the week, I don't even think a gorilla or a lion would engage. As for the lion vs gorilla, I no someone who said he's seen footage of a fight with a lion and a silverback and he said the silverback won hands down, I don't no the size of the beasts or anything, but he said they where fully grown males, he also said it was an organised fight which I thought was very cruel.i don't believe in shit like that.

Lion because once he has the bears or gorillas throat they are dead.

I would rather bet on the bear to go for the lion's throat personally;) But seriously, I've read a couple of stuff and normally, bear is stronger and wins, the size of the bear would make it quite hard for the lion to gash in and a bear's jaw is stronger than the one of a lion if I recall...

They wroked this out on that Animal Planet show a few years back. I'm pretty sure they gave it to the gorilla.

Fully grown, Grizzly and Polar can go over the 1000 pounds... these are nasty creatures. I once came quite close (unwittingly of course) with what looked like a fully grown black bears and I promise, I wasn't feeling good at all and these are much smaller than a polar or a Grizzly.
