where does kevin mitchell go from here?
After doing the groundwork and going virtually under the radar the whole time for the first time in the kids career he was the spotlight show and all the attention was on him. So he picked up a horrible loss on his record and blew his chance to make an impression at world level.
Is this the highest we can possibly expect from kev or is it feasible that he can pick himself up from this and become a better fighter from it. Does mitchell still have a role to play on the world stage or should we just concede that european/commonwealth is the most we can hope from him??
Re: where does kevin mitchell go from here?
Back to the gym! and to go home and sort his life out.
He said he and the Mrs had loads of problems and he admitted to partying too much in the build up to the fight. I hope he learns his lesson and comes back.
He needs to get his confidence back now, so maybe a couple low key fights then we will see.
I don't think when we look back on it though there will be much shame in that loss, the Kat is probably going to go on to be a solid world champ and will beat people far better than Mitchell IMO.
Not sure why, but I've never thought Mitchell was going to go on to be world champ anyway, he certainly wouldn't beat Khan.

I think all the stuff about poor training and problems before the fight is just something to say. If he'd had the best training camp in the world it wouldn't have made him any more able to take Katsidis' punches. I think Frank got him to go to lightweight to take advantage of the Precott situation and make Mitchell a vaguely credible sell for a world title bid. I'm guessing he could make 130 again and he'll need to to get anywhere beyond Euro level, can't see him ever doing anything at lightweight. I would guess he won't go much beyond domestic level at any weight, he'll probably end up in a bunch of British title level wars with guys like Murray.

Go down in weight if he can and win some easy matchups and get his confidence back. He is a muppet for throwing away the biggest fight of his career.
Re: where does kevin mitchell go from here?
Retirement. Unless he's content with just being a domestic fighter. Cuz he'll never be world champion
Re: where does kevin mitchell go from here?
Whilst I'm inclined to agree with paddy, ( I just got two cases of carlsberg for £16 ) I think Mitchell has to do it the legitimate way and build it back up. Look for British and European title fights, then after a few defences, if he can hold it with the best in Europe maybe then start looking again and see what's about at a world level.
He got badly exposed, and needs a lower level of competition for a while I think

Then he'd be another Maccarinelli.
