David Tua to fight Monte Barrett
David Tua is set to fight Monte Barrett! Here's Tua's Boxrec David Tua - Boxer I see Tua smashing him in 3 rounds should be an easy nights work for him. Thoughts? :) Im looking forward to Tua getting back into the mix! ;D
Re: David Tua to fight Monte Barrett
Seems the always impossing and seemingly capable Tua has been on career freeze frame forever. He really has to have some of the worst career advice, managment or self motivation seen from a promising heavyweight in quite some time.I just don't see him being a factor, not so much because he's not capable but because he's fighting a guy like Barret who he should have been using for padding years ago .
Re: David Tua to fight Monte Barrett
Feck sake is this some kind of bad joke....Barrett should not be allowed in a boxing ring again....i'm sure Tua's team could have found somebody half decent.....i'm afraid Tua is being protected cause he aint got it any more...shame really cause he might of won a trinket by now....oh well!!
Job Biscuit (Having a pint with Monty)!!!
eh eh!!

So true
what the hell has the guy done since fighting lewis. He hasnt lost a fight, yet hasnt been in with the average 2nd tier of heavyweights and hasnt got anywhere near to the klitschkos.
Who the hell is making these fights for him?
Re: David Tua to fight Monte Barrett
Tua has wasted like ten years since the Lewis fight and the only good thing in fighting a bum like this is if he were fighting them every two weeks to get back in shape for awhile, then take on a top ten guy in six months. Total wate of a fight and a career.
Re: David Tua to fight Monte Barrett
What a waste of time this fight is.Barrett has turned into a heavyweight punchbag over the last 3 fights and he was never that good a fighter in the first place.

Chris Byrd beat him easy?
Re: David Tua to fight Monte Barrett
I think Tua still has 2 more fights with Maori TV over here, so lookout for at least another fight of this stature before he moves onto the bigger money fights. Its been good for him here in NZ because his fights have been shown live on free to air TV on he is starting to regain a following again after being of the radar for a few years with inactivity.
Tua blows Barrett away in 1!!!
At this point I still think Tua's dangerous for anyone in the top 10, bar the Klitschko's!

Re: David Tua to fight Monte Barrett
When you beat Monte Barett you are the chosen one and ready for a title match. its true, all the heavyweights that have fallen to monte barrets career is over or fighting on ESPN.
Dominick Guinn, Joe Mesi(controversial decision), Owen Beck, Hasim Rahman. If you don't dominate Barret it ruins you.
So once Tua dominates him he is the chosen one savior that will save us from the Klits even though it will never happen ;D

It is good he is letting the fans get to see him even if it is against limited opposition. This is no different to Bruno doing it when he was on the BBC. Bruno was just as limited.

Tua is already talking about his next fight after Barrett, possibly within 8 weeks of that fight. He is looking to step up after his contract commitments are met & mentioned Arreola as a possible opponent, but with the Maori TV contract its hard to attract top opponents for the crap money...
Once the contract has expired you'll see a higher caliber of opponent!
Re: David Tua to fight Monte Barrett
Barrett deserves great credit for this hardest puncher in the world survey he's doing.
