Duran vs Pacman at 135 and 147
First off i just got too say this would be one of the greatest fights ever imo.
For me duran is the greatest lightweight to ever exist, the man was a wrecking machine and went thru world class fighters like they were milkmen. So i would have to say at 135 he beats pacman, even tho pacman looked sensational in his one stop outing against david diaz.
Moving to one 147 i think it gets a bit more interesting. Durans best win came against the great sugar ray leonard. Pacmans best win came against cotto(ok 144,but close enough). For some reason i see pacman having more of a chance in this fight, just because hes looked sensational in all three of his wins. And the fact that durans power wasnt as prominent as in his lightweight reign.Overall i see a great fight, with duran outboxing pacman, i just think he was more versatile.
I think these two would of been one of the greastest fights ever just based on the fact that they were two of the most crowd pleasing fighters to walk the earth. I see relentless action with no backing down,i see both fighters with equal intensity, the difference for me tho is duran i think would be a little to smart and versatile for pacman, and also more defensively sound. But who nos anything can happen in that ring.
Would love to hear ur thoughts
Re: Duran vs Pacman at 135 and 147
I thought even a month ago that Pacquiao would win, but until he shows me absolute requirements for beating Duran, I think he would get beaten up in a good war like Leonard did, except worse. IMO there is much more subtlety to what Duran does than what Pacquiao does, sure they are both aggressive and explosive fighters, but while Pacquiao has advantages on the outside, I think Duran's advantages on the inside are far more profound. Pacquiao knows how to use angles from the outside and how to get in and out, but Duran knew angles on the inside and how to corner a guy, Pacquiao looked great against Hatton when Hatton tried to pressure him, but Duran was so much more clever at cutting off the ring and he was far more aware defensively. If Pacquiao was able to fight like Rigondeaux or Whitaker as part of his fight game then he might stand a change by countering from the outside, but he isn't that type of elusive fighter. Also DUran was one of the few guys who could get into great shape when he deemed it necessary. If Manny went onto the ropes like he did against Cotto he would be mauled all night long. That being said Pacquiao is a great warrior with incredible stamina and heart, I think more often than not Duran beats him, but you could never count Pacqiuao out of this fight, but I think he just doesn't have enough facets to deal with Duran.
I also feel Mayweather will beat Pacquiao for similar reasons, he takes better angles, he has far more diversity in his style, and he doesn't have a predictable rhythm(neither did Duran).

Duran at both weights but what great fights they would be!!!
Re: Duran vs Pacman at 135 and 147
Since this is an IF scenario, MHO would be that Duran; gets KO'd, or he either quits, or he gets permanently retired, if they fight in either of those weight categories stated above.
Let's see... Dela Hoya quits on the stool then later retires.
Hatton gets KO'd motionless, then is now at present, on the brink of retirement.
Barrera gets stopped fades, never able to get his glory back.
Erik, got stopped, destroyed, and dulled into retirement.
Cotto in full tactical retreat a good part the entire latter half of their fight just to avoid being brutally halted.
Last fight against Clottey easily a middleweight at fightnight, was so scared in the clash that he clammed up into a twelved-round safety mode fight. Phobia of being halted was so great it killed all his aggression. Pussified.
So as with Roberto Duran... he quit against SRLeonard due to, humiliation or a little tummy ache, or for whichever side of the story you deem credible, should likewise quit, KO'd, or messed up into retirement if he had faced the PacMan.
It's an if scenario... so, tongue in cheek!
Re: Duran vs Pacman at 135 and 147
Duran at lightweight and maybe Pac at welter.
Re: Duran vs Pacman at 135 and 147
duran at both weights. duran at lightweight would have crushed pacquiao and at welterweight, he still would have been too powerful. pacquiao would have never have beaten a young ray leonard in his prime like duran did. duran by silly KO both weight classes!

I honestly think Pacquiao would have Ray's number, He is just as quick, hits just as hard, but he throws a lot more punches, and Ray didn't have as good of stamina. I think Pacquiao would have worn Ray down and would have won a clear UD.

Ray was a great welter and would have beaten Pac Man as I think floyd would in much the same fashion, too much speed.
Re: Duran vs Pacman at 135 and 147
this would be a perfect example of a great bigger man (leonard) having too much for a great smaller man (pacquiao). pacquiao, the great fighter that he is just wasn't in the same stratosphere with a prime leonard when it came to boxing ability. either leonard beats him via wide UD or late TKO.
Re: Duran vs Pacman at 135 and 147
for one, leonard's excellent jab alone would have controlled pacquiao from round one. also, ray would have used his height and reach to his full advantage. finally, ray was also a great counter puncher when he wanted to be.
