Re: famous real latecomers?
How about Matt Skelton? I know the guy wasn't a world beater, but he did pretty good for a guy who started pro boxing at the age of 35 (he was previously a kickboxer).

This is so sad, it's almost funny :p. Do you know of any other such case? Does it always have to end up like this? Rourke at least had the money to fix his face .

Tarver was the first guy who came to my mind. Didn't he also have some serious personal problems prior to becoming a fighter? That makes it even more impressive IMO.
Re: famous real latecomers?
koppas.
He'll be p4p king within four year, mark my words.
PS - He's never been in a boxing ring and he is 26.

Tarver only started pro late. He had a very extensive amateur career. One that lasted nearly 20 years. He was even considered the best amateur boxer on a loaded U.S. team coming into the '96 Olympics.

Yeah, Tarver was on crack. Thats what hindered his road to breaking it big in the pros. He almost quit the sport early as a pro. But he was always a fighter as long as I can remember.

B-Hop
Michael Grant(first fight was at 20)

Ron Lyle...he had some amateur fights but started as a pro at 30. That's amazing considering how good he ended up being.
Jameel McCline started late didn't he?
Re: famous real latecomers?
Think Ray Mercer did well to start at 27ish?
