getting ready to watch the fight and see how much Calderon has left, a huge shocker in the undercard, McWilliams Arroyo suffering his first loss
I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I know absolutely nothing about the guy Calderon is fighting.
Anyone want this stickied as a fight thread?
all i know is that the guy is durable and has losses to Viloria and Sosa, lets just hope that it doesn't get stopped by a headbutt and a cut
Calderon is circling Iribe, switching sides while throwing solid jabs, while Iribe trys to pressure, nice solid straight left by Calderon, a pretty tentative round for the most part but Calderon getting his shots off alot more, another nice overhand left while Iribe plods forward not throwing
ROUND 1: Calderon
Calderon comes out more aggressive, coming in with lead lefts, nice jab overhand combo, Iribe swinging but Calderon ducks under
Iribe not cutting the ring off at all, but catches Calderon while off balance and scores a KD
Calderon doesn't seem hurt at all, spinning Iribe and going back to outboxing him
ROUND 2: IRIBE
18-19 Iribe
Thanks for the RBR
Iribe looks to have a bit more confidence but still not throwing much, Calderon fighting a lot more cautiously, throwing counters or side stepping and jabbing
Calderon spins Iribe around and lands a left, both guys fighting a bit cautious, Calderon peppers Iribe with quick jabs, neither guy throwing big shots
Iribe not throwing enough
ROUND 3: Calderon
28-28
So much for spoilers...yeh :-X dont get this until 11 pm here. But good heads up El terrible.Hope for good scraps all around.
they meet up in the center of the ring, nice counter right hook by Calderon, still moving but getting touched when on the inside, Iribe is effective when he has Ivan on the ropes, Calderon clutches to get back to the center of the ring, but then effectively moves and throws 1-2's, accidental headbutt, luckily no blood
again Iribe not letting his hands go and when he does he throws one shot at a time
nice solid right by Iribe, but then again punches at the break
ROUND 4: Calderon
38-37 Calderon
Calderon is landing his jab over Iribes, and is landing flush straight shots, Iribe continues to throw one shot at a time, making it that much easier for Calderon to counter, Iribe gets him on the ropes but Calderon ducks and weaves weak uppercuts and wide left hooks
ROUND 5: Calderon
48-46 Calderon
more of the same, Iribe plodding forward and getting tagged by lead left hands, Calderon really seems to be sitting on his shots, but well they don't really have much on them, Calderon a bit more flat footed now, using upper body movement to avoid shots, Iribe lands short hooks on the body but Calderon returns with a left hand, Iribe is just not letting his hands go, but he has enough power to hurt Calderon if he can land cleanly, Iribe loads up with a right and eats 2 shots, and again hits at the break
ROUND 6: Calderon
58-55 Calderon
Calderon shoe-shines when Iribe lunges in while not throwing anything, keeping him at bay with jabs, and moving side to side, backing away, it seems as if he's taking the round off to conserve energy, still controlling the tempo, Iribe goes after him and lands 3 good shots, but then is peppered with hooks and a straight left
ROUND 7: Calderon
68-64 Calderon
it's been a typical Calderon fight (well typical since Cazares fight), Iribe pushes Calderon and it's ruled rightfully so, Iribe seems to be getting a bit desperate, landing a shot on Calderon's hip, but he still is only throwing winging shots and one at a time, Calderon is outpunching and outlanding Iribe while on the backfoot, landing 4 unanswered shots, if he had more power Iribe would be in trouble, Jesus lands a good right but Calderon is now unphazed, he counters and circles away
ROUND 8: Calderon
78-73
