Margarito-Pacquiao seems dangerous to me
I know that Shane looked amazing against Margarito, but I believe he has more power and is two and a half inches taller than Manny. Not only that, but Mosley was tieing up, and muscling Tony on the inside where Marg does his best work. I think this is a worrisome fight for Manny because he hasn't faced a guy in quite some time who will be able to take his punch and walk through it, and want to throw back at the same time. In a Mayweather-Margarito fight Floyd would have used similar tactics to Mosley with better defensive skills to cleanly outbox the big awkward Mexican, but Pacquiao is still there to be hit, and frustratingly he still just covers up on the inside and lets opponents hit him. He has been resilient so far, but guys like Cotto and Clottey throw an economical amount of punches which seemed fortuitous to me because they were clearly landing cleaner shots than were being landed on them against Manny, but Manny's angles', speed, and power forced them into a defensive shell. I can't see that being the case with Margarito, and give all the size advantages he has I think he could be a real problem for the small Pacquiao.
That being said I still favor Manny 7 times out of ten, and likely he will dominate the big slow oaf, but if Margarito keeps him on the ropes or Manny doesn't tie him up I think Pacman could be fucked.

ummm Clottey, difference is Clottey is a pussy and gave the fight away
Re: Margarito-Pacquiao seems dangerous to me
Tony fighting Manny without concrete blocks? Lol. Pacquiao would run right through him, gun blazing with both hands. Toe to toe action with weird in-and-out-circleling motion, combos after combos, unleashing 96 punches per round. He'd blitz the pillow fisted Margocheato so fast and will make him quit before round 6.
Re: Margarito-Pacquiao seems dangerous to me
Yes Margarito still as dangerous in Welter/Jr Middle category (with or without the plasters) honestly if Floyd-Pac will not pushed through, i would like to see Margarito to face with Pacquiao rather than Cotto-Pac at 154, If he (Marga) can have his license back in U.S and if he can still fight at 147 comfortably.
Re: Margarito-Pacquiao seems dangerous to me
anyone who thinks margarito is going to be some kind of cupcake for pacroido is sadly mistaken. margarito is a very dangerous fighter, especially for pacquiao. and especially now that margarito uses his jab more effectively and has improved his defense. right now this is a pick em fight and i give margarito a hell of a shot in beating pacquiao.

The problem is Pacquiao won't get the same leverage against a guy who is 5'11, I think he would really have to work the body, and to do so he will have to get inside. Another thing is Manny might be throw 70-90 punches a round, but Marg usually throws 90-110 punches a round. WHen Manny fought Clottey he threw in the 1200's in terms of punches, Margarito threw over 1700.
I honestly don't think Margarito has the speed to beat Manny who shouldn't buckle like Cotto did under the pressure, but this could be very dangerous if Margarito actually learns to cut off the ring and not just charge straight forward.

While I don't agree with your reasoning for why he'd be tough for manny, We are 100% in agreement on anyone thinking MArgo would be a stepping stone for Manny before he faces floyd is sadly mistaken.
I believe Margo with those long arms, height advantage, and constant pressure will be a nightmare for manny the same as Paul Williams would be. Honestly I don't see Pac beating him unless Arum pays Margo off, to keep the PBF-PAC fight as the big money fight without blemish.

But Margarito's height is only effective defensively in that most opponents need to avoid his punches and punch somebody taller than themselves. Margarito doesn't really have an effective game on the outside, all of his power, accuracy, and his chin come to play on the inside because he can take perfectly landed shots and still throw his punches as if his opponent were covering up. He throws from as many angles on the inside as Manny does on the outside and thats where Margarito breaks down opponents. On the outside he doens't ahve that much power and there is no way even with his height that he will be able to compete with Manny at distance. The thing Mosley did was that he tied Margarito up on the inside and continued to counter him easily from the outside, thats how you effectively subdue this monster. That's why Cotto was fucked when he faced Tony, because he dominated in the middle of the ring, but he basically backed up into the ropes and allowed Tony to get inside and throw combinations.
Another problem for PAcquiao potentially is he doesn't really have a punch that can constantly dictate the range of a fight. It's difficult for a southpaw to control an opponent's advances unless they have an excellent jab like WHitaker or they throw an effective counter left. Pacquiao sort of does, but not like Judah or Rigondeaux do. He doesn't really have that planted left cross that he could throw everytime someone attempts to come in on him. That's also why I don't think Pacquiao would beat Floyd because he has no way to dictate the range of that fight besides throwing a million punches, but there are always holes when you are simply throwing volumes of punches.

The first statement I agree and disagree, because he doesnt have the speed to cover the distance, but he will steadily walk manny down and cut off the ring. That plus manny will have to punch while dodging to get away from him. And manny's defense is less than stellar. I'd pick MArgo in this fight, but wouldn't really care if he lost....
And the second statement...you just couldn't resist adding the pbf comment...

i'll say it right now, if by chance there is a Cotto rematch with Margarito, Cotto stops him by round 10 or whitewash his ass to a shutout, especially now with Steward in his corner
Angulo, Williams (again), Martinez, Cotto, Mosley (again) even Foreman, Kirkland, and Spinks beat Margarito at 154, he's looked like crap when he's ventured up to Jr. Middle against Santos, and well everyone mentioned above is better than Santos, and by the looks of it he's already lost the first round in trying to get a license, only state willing is Texas so far, and well i doubt that any (aside from maybe Angulo) are gonna make the trip down there

He stopped a crippled fighter who couldn't punch. And your bragging about that?
