How would Kelly Pavlik do if he was in the super six tournament?
I think he has the durability and power to beat almost everyone except Andre Ward which I think he might be thouroughly outboxed.
Re: How would Kelly Pavlik do if he was in the super six tournament?
Kelly has reached his peak....hes looking slow and cuts pretty easier now a days.....I say he wouldn't have a chance...maybe beat Green but would struggle with the rest of the pack. To be quiet honest I don't think he has the appetite any more...he comes across has been abit bored of boxing......he should call it a day before he gets a really bad knock out loss
Job Biscuit (Kelly had it in my opinion)!!!
eh eh!!!
Re: How would Kelly Pavlik do if he was in the super six tournament?
Shame he didnt get in on it.Think Ward,Dirrell,Kess and Abraham beat him at this stage.Straight shots and power vs Dirrell nice.Sort of strikes me similiar to Green...big punchers with faulty plan B and spotty mental make up when the going gets tough.Pavlik is much more willing but sometimes that will only gets you smacked around twice as badly.
Re: How would Kelly Pavlik do if he was in the super six tournament?
Kelly v. Froch or Kessler of Abraham is a toss up.
Ward schools him. Dirrell schools him.
He beats Green.
Re: How would Kelly Pavlik do if he was in the super six tournament?
I would have liked to seen him in the mix. At this point I would have him as a toss up against everyone.
Re: How would Kelly Pavlik do if he was in the super six tournament?
I think Kelly is severely underrated now adays and would hold his own against most of the guys in the super 6. I don't think he has a snowballs chance in hell of beating Andre Ward though. Like you said I think he would get outslicked big time.
Re: How would Kelly Pavlik do if he was in the super six tournament?
I think he has the tools to beat Froch, Kessler, Dirrell, Green and he could give Arthur a good fight but i question his chances against someone like Ward he's slick and awkward that would be a tough fight but i think he has a chance. The fights with Froch, Kessler, and Arthur would be really exciting all three have the makings of a war!
Re: How would Kelly Pavlik do if he was in the super six tournament?
the only current super six opponent kelly pavlik would have any kind of a chance would be against carl froch, because froch would be right in front of him. the other super six fighters would beat pavlik pretty handily, imo. like someone said, pavlik has peaked and will be going downhill from now on. the way martinez beat him shows that anyone with a solid chin and good boxing skills would beat pavlik nowadays.
Re: How would Kelly Pavlik do if he was in the super six tournament?
He'd beat Allan Green and the runner Andre Dirrell. The rest well I can't see it. Pavlik was American Media Hype in the 1st place unfortunately for him and HBO he was a one dimensional robot.
Re: How would Kelly Pavlik do if he was in the super six tournament?
I'd give him a shot against Green (60/40 Pavlik), Froch (60/40 Froch), and Abraham (I think Pavlik's style would give Abraham fits). I think everyone else beats him badly.
Re: How would Kelly Pavlik do if he was in the super six tournament?
IMO everyone by Froch and Green beat Pavlik
Re: How would Kelly Pavlik do if he was in the super six tournament?
I think everyone would. Dont know much bout green so i cant speak on him.

I fail to see how Pavlik's style gives Abraham trouble, AA would LOVE for someone to come in swinging for the fences so he could wear them out early and counter sharpe late to stop them.
Allen Green vs Pavlik would be a solid fight for Pavlik and if I managed Kelly I'd wait until that was available to book to make Kelly's debut at 168.
Because covering up and letting someone with the power of Pavlik wail away on you is a bad game plan. Pavlik has always been known for his high workrate and he has (or had) great stamina. If Abraham pursued his normal game-plan I wouldn't be surprised to see Pavlik stop him. By no means do I think Pavlik winning is a sure thing, but I feel much the same about this fight as I do about Abraham - Froch. It's a matter of clashing styles and I think Abraham's traditionally low-output would place him at a severe disadvantage against either fighter.
