Marquez v Lopez fight off!!

MEXICO - The Mexican boxer Rafael Márquez was injured right thumb and not fight on 18 September against the Puerto Rican Juan Manuel López for the title of the featherweight world boxing Organization (OMB) according to press reports. Márquez told today of the daily newspaper editing record that a doctor recommended he be between six and eight weeks without hitting with the hand. "I am very disappointed with what struck me, everyone knows that it is the fight that was waiting, but ultimately I can not be ready by September 18", commented Marquez to record, as he published The Associated Press. Boxer noted that injured his finger to shut the door of his van. The match was scheduled to perform at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas hotel. "I don't know what will happen now, or when I get back." That's a shame, I was really looking forward to this one. Let's wait and see how serious it is and if the fight is off indefinitely. I would still like to see it.

I had a feeling this would happen, because over the last few years whenever a prospect was about to face a tough fight we're all looking forward too someone always gets injured and the fight is forgotten about or never happens. I keep myself from getting excited over fights like this till they get in the ring.

Terrible news. I was really looking forward to this fight. I doubt it happens now, Lopez will just move on, hopefully against another legitimate opponent.

it sucks, but i would rather have it be an at his best Rafael Marquez Vs. Juanma Lopez, hope it heals quickly and that they reschedule

but yea Lopez should pick a decent replacement and not just some nobody to fill in, Caballero, Escalante (although he's set to fight Ponce De Leon), Nishioka, or even Jhonny Gonzalez would all be good fights

Majesty you still think of Juanma as a prospect?

Anyways it sucks but yeah these things happen in boxing, hopefully the replacement is worthy and this fight gets made again sooner rather then later.

from what i've read there isn't going to be a replacement, Rafael Marquez only needs to rest the right hand for about 4 weeks since there was no fracture, he's still in the gym training with his left and doing roadwork and all that, so they're just going to push the fight back to October, November at latest, which is actually good news
