Dirrell's uncle/trainer says they will pull out if the money and venue is not right
here is what they said.
Dirrells Unlce says
"It still ain't made yet. The money has got to be right and it's going to have to be in a neutral venue, it ain't going to be in Ward's home town. This is a superfight, the biggest in the tournement and a fight people want to see, 50-50 split would be great, but we just wan't it to be fair. If the moneys not rigth there will ne no fight, period"
Ward says
"All of our money was set before we signed our contracts. We had the mzimum we could make if we continued to win and your money is reduced if you lose, but it's different for each fighter. But the money was already locked and set. I don't understand the whole 50-50 thing because becuase he was going to get the same money whether he fught me this fight or Arthur Abraham. After the fight with Allan Green everybody had a verbal agreement that it would be a neutral territory. Dirrell said Oakland is out of the question and they have to understand too that Detroit's out of the question because I'm the champ. I think Vegas is the natural venue."
I wouldn't be that suprised to be honest, maybe the only implications are a law suit from Showtime but in reality Dirrell is in a bad situation at the moment in the Super Six, if he looses he is out he is a big dog for me in this fight.
Re: Dirrell's uncle/trainer says they will pull out if the money and venue is not rig
Well to be fair to Dirrell he deserves a fair cut and the fight should be at a neutral venue. No way it should be in Wards neck of the woods. All these super 6 fights would have been better off at neutral venues as a matter of principal really. Some dodgy stuff has gone on in almost every fight.
Re: Dirrell's uncle/trainer says they will pull out if the money and venue is not rig
As mush as i would like to see the fight in Oakland (i'm 25 minutes away) it needs to be at a nuetral venue. I definitely see this fight being postponed. We are 4 weeks away with no venue, it's going to be really difficult to get a venue and do all the promoting in that time, i'm thinking November sometime.

i agree, EVERY fight in this tourney should have been on neutral ground, it's pretty ridiculous that Ward has fought both of his Super Six fights in the luxury of his hometown, fuck it put the fight in New York and neither guy can whine about it

All this whining and crying especially when all this stuff was supposidly worked out before hand is getting old. I say fuck both of them, tell them to fight here and for this much and if not carry on the tourny with the guys left willing to fight. All anyone really wants to see is froch and abraham anyway. This sport gets so frustrating, what happened to all this "i'll fight anyone anywhere talk........and people wonder why so many move to mma daily....
Re: Dirrell's uncle/trainer says they will pull out if the money and venue is not rig
Neutral venues won't happen, because most of these guys draw really good at home. Ergo, more money for the promoters.
Dirrell just needs to buck up and honor the contract he signed.
In a perfect world there would be neutral venues, but this isn't a perfect world, this is capitalism.....
Re: Dirrell's uncle/trainer says they will pull out if the money and venue is not rig
Ward isn't trying to fight in Oakland, he wants it in a neutral venue according to him. Soo, hopefully the thing happens in Vegas.

I am not against the idea of an impartial venue if it can help to generate more money, plus it's interesting to be able to see your local fighter fighting where you live but I think it would be mandatory that the 3 judges and the referee do not come from the country of neither of the fighter though.
Re: Dirrell's uncle/trainer says they will pull out if the money and venue is not rig
I am picking Dirrell to beat Ward. Dirrell is faster and hits harder than Ward. I dont think the venue matters.

i completely agree, if it was already decided and agreed on i don't see what the fuss is, neither guy should be given the home advantage, and neither guy is much outside the tourney, so they need to take a dose of humility and just make the fucking fight

I agree with Ward - all this stuff was agreed at the start of the tourny so just get on with it! Neutral venues certainly fairer but that's not the best way to make the most money so that's usually not going to happen. Vegas would be good for this one though. It's a good fight and I see Ward winning on points.
