Cherry out, Lundy in
Just read on Dan Rafael's blog that Omri Lowther's original opponent Edner Cherry has been replaced by Hank Lundy for this week's fnf in Montreal. After getting a crazy upset loss against John Molina last month on FNF, a fight where he(Lundy) was way ahead on the cards and just got rocked in the 11th was unable to defend himself or throw back, while Molina rained the punches in.
Here he is 6 weeks later stepping in against 14-1 Omri Lowther, born in Georgia, US but currently residing in Toronto. Lowther will have fought less than 30 days ago himself. I have not seen Lowther in the ring, so I can't speak to his abilities.
I also have no idea why Cherry isn't fighting.

Re: Cherry out, Lundy in
In addition to being a giant douche who I absolutely loved seeing get knocked out, Lundy has a good skillset. He has limited power, but he's fast, he's slick, and I would imagine he learned a lot from his last fight. I expect him to win convincingly.

Re: Cherry out, Lundy in
I had talked to Lundy quite a few times and when I seen him that night FNF ( the one he lost ) I couldn't believe that was the same person. He was a little fireplug in the gym but talked no trash, was very embracing and worked hard. When I seen him that night with his interview I was simply shocked. I would have never thought he would be as much of a s**t talker as he was. Hopefully know he has been humbled and goes back to the way he was when he was in gym.

Re: Cherry out, Lundy in
I have liked Hank ever since that great 8 round fight he had with Darnell Jiles Jr. From what I have seen of his opponent on Youtube, he's not impressive. Very wild, overreaches, falls in with his right hand is just is kind of reckless. I would have picked one of my favorite fighters in Cherry to beat him and I'll go with Lundy too. Lundy can be sharper then this guy and he has more experience too now that he went through that episode a couple months ago. Hopefully he can bounce back well.

Just as an FYI this is a Friday Night Fights - Saturday Edition (why they didn't just call it Saturday Night Fights, I have no idea)

Re: Cherry out, Lundy in
Interesting to see how he approaches return. Gun shy (more so) or trying to keep control when he has advantages.
Truth told, really dont care for his style and attitude....hope he gets sparked

Re: Cherry out, Lundy in
FNF season finale going out with a whimper tonight ? Nicholson Poulard 14-3 (6) is taking on a much undersized Alfredo Contreras 8-8-2 right now and this one has matter of time written all over it. Alfredo looks like he's sizing up the canvas for comfort and Poulard is waiting for god knows what to start an assault.End of 1st.
-
Re: Cherry out, Lundy in
Poulard comes alive to barely salvage 2nd round as Alfredo had to seemingly tease him into punching with bad intentions. Poulard has some strong hooks when he pressures and can pin him when he chooses but is a little upright and stiff....he is giving jittery Contreras way to much life and respect.

Re: Cherry out, Lundy in
Well there it is...Poulard cuts him off and drops Alfredo in 3rd with pushing long right hand,hard....Alfredo up and dropped again with feinting left and right uppercut. Thats all she wrote.

Re: Cherry out, Lundy in
Interviewers need to make it a common practice to call fighters aka = Lundy out when they say " I'm not making excuses but etc etc etc " ??? Nice highlight reel being run by them now of last 30 yrs :army: They better show Carbajal !

Re: Cherry out, Lundy in
Lundy looks like he's two weight classes above this guy,at least. He's quickly becoming one I look forward to watching for when he gets ko'd again. And he will. He throws some fugly long single shots only here he's keeping his feet in same spot, leeaanniinngg.

Re: Cherry out, Lundy in
A story of two totally different styles here. I gave 3rd to Lowther who is much more busy, landing some straight shots, popping and moving though not overly strong and may just be a case of what Lundy is not doing in spots. He's waiting and sizing up for single shots, comes to life at rounds end and gets Lowther in corner with good shot. Lowhters left eyes red. Lundy is not that good that he can be this picky in activity.
