Ingle trying to make Eubank look like a fool, stupid little runt, what happens in the gym stays in the gym I say.
Naz was a good boxer but he is a TOOL was then , and still IS:o:o:o:o:o:o
Eubank stole the show that night. His fight with Carl was one to remember. Nas wasnt looking that good against Vasquez who was building momentum but when the rope broke Nas got his focus back and stopped the old man.
They were on the full monty before double trouble when Eubank lost to Joe and Nas beat Badillo . I remember Nas was sitting ringside for Chirs' fight having already won and Chris was really struggling with Joe. Nas sat smug and shouted "youre getting too old Chris" Taunting him though the whole 12 rounds. Eubank even answered once and said "shut up Naseem" whilst he was boxing. It annoyed me because Chirs was digging really deep that night and he didnt need that distraction. It was low IMO.
It made it all the sweeter though when Nas got his humiliation vs Barrera. I just wish Eubank was ringside when Nas fought Calvo and people were leaving in the later rounds. Eubank should have stood up and said "Youre done" then walked off. That would have been great revenge but I think they made up after that .
Out of the Two, when you look over their careers, Eubank is by far the more acomplished fighter.
He has the Two things every trainer wants to find in a fighter. The ability to take a good shot and the will to win. He found ways of turning fights around and digging deep.
Hamed on the other hand got wobbled and dropped by every decent punch that landed on him and when push came to shove against Barerra he just didnt have any fight in him.
As for Ingles bullshiit. If Eubank had fought Graham or Nelson im sure he would have added an extra loss to each career, which is why hes held in much higher esteem than either.
yeah the taunting during the calzaghe fight pissed me off too... i think that might have been the time i saw naz ringside and he had just signed a pair of gloves for a fan, he wasnt sure who the fan was or where he went so naz just threw the gloves over his head like a total tool.
as for Eubank being ringside for barrera it wouldn;t supprise me if he was he used to go over the states and wish naz luck on most of his fights as strangly enough they became good friends in the end ;)
There was a point in their strange "love hate relationship" afew years later where they were on talking terms but still wanted to get one over the other. I remember Chris was the host of a radio show or he had his own segment anyway and one day he had naseem on as his guest. The topic was housing ofocurse !?! Anyways Chris was trying to be subtle in getting one over on Nas and was telling him to get buy flat and Nas was saying he can afford a bit more than a flat. Both were attempting to make a fool of the other but with neither being the sharpest tool in the box it mae for an amusing conversation.
Ha ha!! Eubank cracks me up!
He will talk but stops every now and then to think of a big word he can slot in to his speaches;D
I love the way Eubank talked down to people, he really knows how to get under peoples skin.
Dyou remember that shite that both Benn and Eubank did? The gladiator thing?
The trainers were trying to push Eubank to actually work but he kept complaining of an injury and then Eubank looks at the camera and says something along the lines of " Look at these fools dressed up pretending to be warriors! I was a respected world champion, a real warrior" I think he embarrased them a bit with that. Nigel on the other hand was treating eevrything as if it were a championship fight again, trying to get any little victory over Chris.
Then they are at this dinner table and the trainers are asking them about their fights. Nigel says quietly "When Chris beat me" only for Chris to abruptly interupt him and say "Hold on Nigel, I didnt just beat you. I beat you to within inches of your life!!" Nigel scowled and carried on;D
Chris even did the ol pose, when Nigel started getting aggressive. Chris puffs his chest out arms out at the sides, fists cleanched and strutts right up in to Nigels face. I think Nigel was a bit bemused by that because Chris had been a bit of a sissy during the programme but when push came to shove and an actual fist fight might accure it was Chris who tried provoking it. Mind you, the final "battle" I think was with those big earbuds and yet again Chris cried off with a injury;D
That was Chris Eubank all over though, the harder you push and the more important the fight, the harder he would fight back. I would have loved to have seen him against Jones and Toney. Even the version that had to lose a stone in 2 weeks managed to push Calzaghe all the way, even had him out on his feet at the final bell!
I remeber that - Ingle was bang out of order!!
Eubanks would probably get his ass handed to him by Nelson and herol Graham but Ingle should not have said what he did.
Ingle and Naz soon broke up.
I did not realise this was ppv, I must have paid for it!
Yeah I remember that. At one point Benn refused to talk to him cuz he was so frustrated but producers made them shake hands. Benn tried to do it withot looking Chris in teh eye but Chris made something of it. Held his hand during the shake and said " you do noty need to apologise" That set Benn off again.
I do think he got one over on Chris though cuz after he won that ear bud thing. Chris was damant he wanted to do it again in another 6 months even though he tried to get out of it the night before. His reaction to losing actually must have been satisfying for Benn to see cuz anyone would have passed it off as a game and it meant nothing but it clearly did mean something to Chris.
Benn had prepared for the Gladiator programme, Eubanks had not and he wanted 6 month preparation, but Benn said we are old and our time has passed.
