Roy Jones Jnr

I just watched some of Ringside again last night, mainly the Jones interview.

I just wanted to say that looking at him makes me sad. He doesn't even look like the Jones I remember, speech is a little off and he really does look old now.

The fact he is calling out Haye or a Klitschko is just sad, he'll end up in a body bag if he fights anyone decent. It's such a shame to see one of your all time favourite boxers going on far longer than they should be, getting smashed up and permanently damaged.

Even Evander gives me more confidence than the sight of Roy. And he should have left the game a long time ago.

The very idea / notion that Jones Jnr could fight Haye is just the most ludicrous thing I have EVER heard as a boxing fan. Really. Its astonishing. No commission should allow that.

Roys already destroyed his legacy by staying too long and that was years ago, wrong thoughts wrong weights. Bad ending to a great story, I thought he would of been smarter.

Doesn't matter what you do in life you can ride it on home by your skills , but the speed is never the same so the real competition is all over, boxings going to show that up more than any other thing.

The Guy was/is a legend sad to see he still has this hunger :-X

knew someone who went to the UK Dinner show last week and he said Roy was really friendly and a nice guy.... looking at the photo he showed me i never realised Roy was so short, makes you realize what an achivement it was him making heavyweight. :cool:

Its taken me a long time but I've come to like Roy and although I think he missed HUGE chances at cementing legacy....fact is the man was a phenom....a sensation of reflex and natural unrehearsed instinct and guile. He needs to leave the stage with his head up and bruised pride intact and not as some stepping stone has been patched together for network ratings sake and fed on a platter to current "stars" who couldn't shine his shoes on a class for class...p4p level on respected best days.

Currently he's delusional as to what he can accomplish and one can only hope he has someone close enough in personal life to be honest with him before its too late.

For some strange reason, I always believed that Roy Jones Jr would be one of the few boxers to bow out before he tarnished his legacy.

I don't know why I thought this; might have been because he possessed almost supernatural reflexes & handspeed, I just felt that once these gifts left him, he wouldn't fancy boxing on as a 'mere mortal', but alas I was dead wrong.

Like someone has said earlier, he will end up damaged goods or in a body bag.

David Haye would literally tear his head off & I for one would not like to see such a one sided fight.

I dont think he has destroyed his legacy. Once you achieve the greatness he did, you are a legend forever. Nothing can undo that

Leonard got beat by Camacho
Ali got beat by Berbick and Tyson lost to Mcbride. They are still legends and people dont judge them on those losses.

True.

Destroyed is too harsher term.;)

He's removed a few layers from it.

Its a trait of us all though really our bodies grow older, slower and our minds are still up to the things they were in our teens.

The worst part about Jones Jr's plan to keep on fighting is no matter what, the roads end to a bad one. If he is completely shot, he will take a beating in the ring. If he turns back the clock in one of his upcoming fights, he will get this false confidence, then step up the class of opposition, then get blasted.

I agree that once a legend, always a legend. But it's really hard to see those legends get out of the game the wrong way.

Problem is when anyone close tells him not to do something for his own good i.e. his dad, he just puts a distance between him and them!

He should have retired either after Ruiz or 1st Tarver fight
