Better shots with different gloves?
Hi all,
i have a pair of PRO-1 12oz gloves, which I bought for about 40 bucks one year ago.
Yesterday I tried my friends Everlast gloves which seemed to be kind more fit, more compact, althought they are also 12oz.
It seemed that with my friend's gloves I threw more sharp and powerfull shots. I am asking if gloves play any role in technique or it was my idea
Re: Better shots with different gloves?
The type of glove will affect the shape of the glove. Bag gloves and sparring gloves will have a different shape for protection of the hands. So even though they may weight the same, some may be more streamlined.
Re: Better shots with different gloves?
Size and padding in mitts definitely plays a role. There are punchers mitts (more likely to harm others), and others for better protection. I prefer the better protection and about 16 oz like these one's I just bought RS2V High Performance Pro Sparring Gloves - Sparring gloves - Rival Boxing Gear Inc. for the bag and sparring...because less likely to hurt my hands, good wrist support and easier on sparring partners too. But for shadow boxing and things as such...use a lighter glove, closer in the weight of actually fight gloves for a familiarity, especially when closing in on a fight.

In my opinion, yes, different gloves can effect how you punch... I use two types, both are the same oz, but one of my pairs of gloves gives move wrist support and I feel I throw harder punches with those gloves. Cruiser
