Can Someone Give Me A Run Down On Abner Mares And Yonnhy Perez ?

I didn't know these fights were happening on the same day as Amir Khan fight, so how did each fighter look ? and how good were they action wise ? Abner Mares is one of favorite upcoming fighters, and Perez/Abgeko was an awesome match up last year, so i'd like a run down cheers fellas.

I have just kind of watched it now whilst reading the paper on my kindle. The general showtime impression was that Darchinyan started well but faded down the stretch and that Mares took the late rounds.

There was a knockdown against Vic that he protested as a slip. I wasn't paying much attention.

It sounded like a good fight, it really sounded like it could go either way. The Showtime team had Vic ahead going into the championship rounds but all official judges gave those last two rounds to Mares.

Sounds like a very close fight that could have gone either way. I may watch it again without my kindle later.

Darchinyan whined like a bitch afterwards, disgusting referee, dirty opponent, he still won by at least 4 rounds etc.

He came of age but I wasnt awwed by em. KD on Vic was him having two left feet more then a punch. Mares showed a good chin and fighting thru nasty cut,not bothered and maintained form well. I really think Agbeko beats him though...and Joseph is getting zero love in this tourney. Has improved tremendously as a defense boxer and volume puncher. Still loops right but jab is solid,bodywork and chin is tremendous.

power wise, i think darchinyan is a much more dangerous fighter than agbeko. abner mares was wise to attack darchinyan's body early and he's going to have to do the same to agbeko. if he can soften agbeko's body early, he can possibly get a KO but more than likely he'll win by decision. if he doesn't attack agbeko's body, the fight can go either way. one thing that's going to favor mares is that agbeko has more or less the body type and fighting style of yonnhy perez. another thing, mares had a lot of trouble with darchinyan's very unorthodox style whereas agbeko fights in a more conventional way.

Vic got outboxed plain and simple. He wasn't allowed to stiff arm to measure his left. Without the flash k/d and penalty for low blow it would have been a UD. Mares has great chin, he took flush bombs and hung in there. Agbeko just turn slick boxer on Perez and didnt get into the toe to toe war Perez wanted. Boxed his ass off, countering and moving real good after his own flurries, really impressive. Gonna be a good final for sure. I'm leaning towards Agbeko.
