Eminem to star in new boxing film
Eminem to star in boxing film
According to Hollywood news site Deadline, production house DreamWorks has signed the rights to a new boxing film called Southpaw, which is to feature rap star Eminem as the main character.
In his return to the big-screen, nearly nine years after his movie debut in 8 Mile, Eminem will play a fast-rising southpaw welterweight boxer who brawls his way to the title, only to see his world crash down around him due to tragedy.
Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter will write the script and told Deadline that the movie would be almost a continuation of semi-biographical 8 Mile.
‘We are doing a metaphorical narrative of the second chapter of his [Eminem] life. He'll play a world-champion boxer who really hits a hard bottom and has to fight to win back his life for his young daughter.
‘At its core, this is a retelling of his struggles over the last five years of his life, using the boxing analogy.
‘I love that the title refers to Eminem being a lefty, which is to boxing what a white rapper is to hip-hop; dangerous, unwanted and completely unorthodox. It's a much harder road for a southpaw than a right-handed boxer,’ said Sutter.
Might be ok this...he was good in 8-mile. ;)

Yeah i'm certainly not turned off by the idea....
Eminem just has a strong presence and could really carry a movie as the main character... You can imagine the character and the film in general having a real grit to it that probably reflects the lives of a lot of real life boxers...
Often you can blind yourself to all the money that the big boys make, but a lot of guys don't make it big and their career's end all sorts of ways..
As long as it has some good fight scenes, and he doesn't get sucker punched at the peak of the movie, hit his head on a stool, and turn into a drooling mess for the entire second half of the movie, it will most likely be enjoyable...
(off/slightly sideways of topic, the second half of million dollar baby is the perfect way of ruining a rare great sporting flick.. Almost utterly unwatchable after roping you in with excitement.)

Didn't think Jason Litzau win over Caballero was big enough to warrant a movie. Or could be an Ebo Elder movie
