Movies you never bothered to finish watching...
The other night I hired 5 movies from the store, and one of them i'd been meaning to see since it was out at Cinema's...
That was "Public Enemy" with Johnny Depp... He is usually a seal of guarantee that a movie is going to be great, or at least watchable... And this movie looked alright...
But this was just awful... THE most boring movie I have watched in a LONNNNNG time... It was like a boring, wooden documentary with absolutely zero entertainment value... I got about 35 minutes into it and literally had not enjoyed a single minute of it yet... So I turned it off and didn't bother watching the other hour that it had left..
Sorry to anyone who really liked this movie...
Anyway, can you guys recall any movies you started watching and didn't finish?? Or at least any that you watched, and by the end thought you shouldn't have bothered? I don't just mean the real stinkers that you actually couldn't take your eyes off for some reason.... I mean, just boring where you felt like you'd just watched paint dry...
Re: Movies you never bothered to finish watching...
PUBLIC ENEMIES IS THE BOMB!!! What on earth are talking about? It's one of the best gangster movie I've seen.
Re: Movies you never bothered to finish watching...
Colin Farrell is a great actor. But he suck balls in Alexander and New World. I've watched Alexander but not entirely in one night. I continued watching it the next night. For New World though, I had to walk out of the cinema.
Re: Movies you never bothered to finish watching...
Inception. Fell asleep, I think ???
Re: Movies you never bothered to finish watching...
I too gave up on Public Enemy and Inception after just a few minutes.
Also Deja Vu and the Road. I was immensely looking forward to both films for months, and as soon as I turned them on I thought 'meh' and turned them off.
A films quality doesn't increase the likelihood of me watching it though.
I mean there are some truly awful films out there that I find immensely enjoyable. Mega shark vs Giant Octopus was the worst film ever made, and I watched it twice! It was compelling, and brilliantly a sequal has just come out Mega Shark vs Giant Crocodile or something, sounds great.
Here is are two of the greatest action sequences for Mega Shark 1, so bad yet somehow glorious.

This film was somehow epic.
Re: Movies you never bothered to finish watching...
waterworld. stopped watching about 15 minutes into it.
Re: Movies you never bothered to finish watching...
The English Patient, I remember I rented it a few years back because it was an academy award winner, but after half an hour I never finished it and didn't really bother anymore.
Shakespeare in Love is another one.
Re: Movies you never bothered to finish watching...
Lord of The Rings a couple of times I have tried so hard but just not for me. :p
Re: Movies you never bothered to finish watching...
After seeing the first Harry Potter, I didn't bother seeing the rest of them.
I find these movies boring and plain corny... We Were Soldiers, When Earth Stood Still, Watchmen, Meet The Fockers 2 (I love the 1st sequel btw). I'm sure there's lots more.

Why's that? Is it because Viggo Mortensen wasn't in his Aragorn outfit?

No idea, for months it was my anticipated film, then I started watching it and lost all interest after about 3 minutes. It might well be a great film, in fact hopefully I'll feel motivated to watch it soon, I just have never wanted to yet.
It happens with tv series as well. Boardwalk Empire and The Pacific I was looking forward to both, and yet have never watched even the first episode of either, despite having both series on my pc.
Re: Movies you never bothered to finish watching...
I feel asleep in the theater watching What About Bob. I also fell asleep at the drive-in watching The Unforgiven.
Re: Movies you never bothered to finish watching...
Wow :o
The Road, Inception, LOTR, Boardwalk Empire, The Unforgiven....those are all classics. And then Public Enemies is a good movie.
Master and Commander is the movie for me though, just never watched it because it was too dark on my old LCD tv.

Im weird though in the way that certain types of movie appeal to me more. You know, if a stupid B movie sci fi or horror comes online even if it gets terrible reviews i will download and watch instantly. Also a lot of comedies, even sometimes chick flicks I'll watch first as they are somehow easier and require less effort.
The other day I started watching Inception and turned it off after about 10 minutes and put some Catherine Zita Jones flick on called the Rebound instead. Actually was a very funny film.

I really enjoyed The English Patient, but it is very long and does flutter a lot between the present and the past. I like those kinds of epic/tragic stories. I also thought The talented Mr Ripley was very good. Minghella went wrong on Cold Mountain though, I didn't get into that one at all.
As for films that I never bothered to finish. Well, generally speaking I try to avoid all Hollywood big budget/action/CGI fests. Transformers was utter shit. My wife convinced me to go along, I didn't walk out of the screening, but I stopped watching and basically ate popcorn and allowed my mind to wander for well over an hour. I can't watch shit like that. Who the fuck went out and watched the sequel? These people are sick in the head.
