David Haye Vs some of the past CW and HW elite...
Everyone talks about Haye and we pretty much discuss the Wlad situation and the comp he has fought at HW....Though unless you are a stern Haye fan we do not really mention his skillset...He is fast and he can hit hard....As a boxer IMOP he is decent but not superb....Though as an all around fighter Haye is no second rate bum....So what would be peoples opinions on him against some of the sports past HWts closer to his size and CWts the division he excelled in from the last 25 years or so....I know I am not getting all the names that could be mentioned add some of your own if you would like...
CW-
Holyfield- I think Evander ruins him as a fighter period!! Holyfield KO inside of 8
Qawi- Haye would land some big shots and he would put Qawi in trouble early but once the war began and the time for in your face fighting started Qawi beats him down without mercy Qawi by 8th or m9th rd TKO
Carlos De Leon- Haye could beat him if he starts out fast he stops De Leon could he outbox him? Not too sure because Haye never really had to go the distance at CW...50/50 fight for me
Jirov- This would have beeen very interesting because Jirov was a great CW but suspect IMO in the chin dept...Plus Jirov really had a short prime...Haye KO
HWTS-
Michael Spinks- I think he boxes Haye silly Haye would try to come in like a bat out of hell and spend his night searching for an answer Spinks By wide UD
Mike Tyson- OK OK this was a joke...Haye likes to start fast when able but a prime Mike started faster then anyone I can name as a HW great....If Haye tried to match punching power he would not last 2 rds....Mike could also box his ass off if he needed to I can't see this one going more then 3 and that if haye managed to stay away...But that really is no insult to haye because in truth during his early years before self destruction who really gave Mike any competition unless they held for dear life?...Tyson KO in 2
Larry Holmes- Larry just jabs the shit out of him until he is ready to take Haye out....Larry was not good or even fantastic this is a top 5 HW at his lowest rating in the ATG dept...Holmes anyway he wants to win
Michael Moorer- This is a funny one because really Moorer is not an great HW he was a good LHW that was very tough...But he is close to size against Haye I think MM could outbox Haye but I think Haye would catch Moorer and spark him out in the mid rounds- Haye by KO somewhere between the 6th and 9th

Good post Daxx. Wouldn't take issue with much of what you say. I might argue that haye would beat Carlos de Leon. but thats about it.
There are some more interesting match ups:
Bob Foster - this would be great while it lasted. Both guys throw bombs but could also be vulnerable themselves. Haye was probably a better technician than Bob, due to his long and illustrious amateur career, so i would lean toward haye being the guy that landed first.
Roy Jones Junior - another very good matchup. Haye would be by far the naturally bigger guy, but he would never have seen someone like Roy. Unlike Ruiz, haye would be dangerous throughout ...... a 50/50 pick-em for me.
George Foreman (Part 1) - only joking, young George would crush Haye like a roach.
Joe Frazier - Haye would be the bigger guy and unless he jumped on Joe early (Joe always started slowly, and haye is a quick starter and a good finisher), Frazier grinds him down and we see something a bit like the Carl Thompson fight with an exhausted and beaten up haye being stopped by the ref around the 9th

Foster was a great at light heavy but at heavy the greats crushed him still think Foster wins at cruiser.
Forgot that Frazier would be smaller but still think he would be too much for Haye.

What about Wamba at Cruiser?

If we are stricktly going in prime years I think RJJ toys with Haye...Haye nwould be dangerous for sure but IMO Roy would mezmorize him and frustrate him to the point he just did what he wanted with Haye....I in no way can artionalize Haye being better then Toney was and Roy embaressed him....Foster is an interesting one for sure a fight that for me at CW would be a pick em but at HW Foster could not absorb the abuse...
Frazier? I have to agree 100% on that one...Joe went to war with Ali a man many forget was bigger then Haye in his prime years and had very underrated power....Joe was never discouraged by him....I think the fact that Frazier just kept coming and coming would be Hayes downfall in that fight.....I just don't take Haye nas a mentally tough fighter...Maybe he is but he has not shown it to me yet....At least not against a a guy of Joes caliber and grit....Maybe that was a stupid statement because in truth how many fighters had those qualities that Joe had then?....
Now Foreman?...Seriously are we to believe George last in there with the Hayemaker ...:-X
Re: David Haye Vs some of the past CW and HW elite...
On a more serious note would Haye be smart enough to have his affairs in order before getting in the ring with George?

Re: David Haye Vs some of the past CW and HW elite...
Think Orlin Norris beats him. Holyfield via decapitation. IF Moorer would have gone Cruiser can see his accurate handspeed and straight power hurting Haye badly. Jirovs body work is some of the best division has seen and given Haye stamina lapses it could tell...but think Haye too fast and powerful for stationary and catchable Jirov. Toney at fit Cruiser, say vs Washington...totals Haye for tko. Shit call me loco...but I make Al Cole a 50-50 :-X. Kid had a chin made of iron, long freakish range jab with nice right and workrate.
