Maybe the reason pacquiao went on showtime?
Maybe he doesn't directly want to compete with mayweather in terms of ppv sales, and/or he wants to either have an excuse or larger audience by having the fight promoted on CBS? I mean boxing fans haven't taken kindly to him facing mosley dispute the fact IMO this will be his toughest fight since Marquez, and maybe he wants to entice a less boxin educated crowd to boost his ppv so he doesn't lose his negotiating power with Floyd? Then again I am probably being to cynical and Manny probably just wants to make as much money as he possibly can
Re: Maybe the reason pacquiao went on showtime?
Showtime reaches more homes. They think they'll generate more money because of this. That is what the reason is.
Re: Maybe the reason pacquiao went on showtime?
Wasn't there somthing going on with the Cotto fight? Arum wanted a date but HBO wouldn't give it up (for Martinez?) so he had a hissy fit and said he doesn't want to work with them again? Or is that him spouting off with a different agenda
Re: Maybe the reason pacquiao went on showtime?
A ridiculous post. I don't really understand it. There are a few very good articles on this. Thomas Hauser wrote one. Check it out. Showtime and HBO have increasingly similiar audience numbers and CBS said it would get involved in the promotion, which will increase ppv sales. Meaning more money. And Arum was bitter at how HBO treated Cotto etc.

This.
I think the original poster is looking waaaay too much into things - especially considering money had nothing to do with Pac vs Floyd not being made.

Maybe Arum is showing how much of a genius he really is. Forget the Cotto crap. Arum is setting up a major co-promo by Showtime and HBO just the Tyson vs Lewis fight. GENIUS!!!
I really don't know, but would be a smart move if he's really thinking that way.
