Does anyone else think that Dzinziruk can upset Martinez?
I think his style could cause Martinez all kinds of problems and he's been waiting for his chance for a long time. The guy has one of the best jabs in all of boxing and I think he can use to it upset Martinez' rhythm and timing. He'll have to KO Martinez to get the win, which obviously won't happen, but I can see Martinez winning a very disputed decision.
Re: Does anyone else think that Dzinziruk can upset Martinez?
I think he has the style to give anyone fits, he has a real good jab, like a heat seeking missile. If he can stay at range and work the jab, yeah I give him a good shot. If he decides to exchange he will get the worst of it. I am not sold on Martinez being a great boxer, he is very awkward, and uses lots of angles, but a good jab should stop him short every time.
Re: Does anyone else think that Dzinziruk can upset Martinez?
A good jab will trouble anyone.
But I expect Martinez to beat him without too much trouble.
Dzinziruk may win 3 or 4 rounds at the most.
Martinez has been fighting the much better fighters and will outclass him. Outspeed him as well.

I don't think Martinez is getting enough credit here for taking this fight. I mean think about it. That's Paul Williams I, Kermit Cintron, Kelly Pavlik, Paul Williams II, and now Sergiy Dzinziruk. When does he get a little bit of a breather? Maybe that'll be Chavez Jr. next. I see Dzinziruk as the world's best junior middleweight. There I said it. Angulo turned down 750k to face him. That should say something.
Problem I see for Dzinziruk is that he hasn't been very busy the last few years. Since he beat Santos, he's only defended his title three times and against only so-so foes whereas Martinez has been busy in the ring with the best in the world. Plus all in all Martinez has faced much better boxers in his career. Martinez also has him on speed, style, and awkwardness. But, Dzinziruk can box. I wouldn't be super surprised with an upset. Does anyone know if Dzinziruk has been down before?

i think Dzinziruk would have a better shot at 154, his punch output is too low to really problem Martinez
it should be a competitive fight, and Martinez deserves more credit than what he's getting for taking the fight

I don't make much of the weight class. Martinez was a career junior middleweight although he has filled into a middleweight now. He isn't a big middleweight by any means like Kelly Pavlik was. Sergiy actually is a hair taller than him.
I'll say this too at this point, Sergiy Dzinziruk is a significantly tougher fight than Shane Mosley.
Re: Does anyone else think that Dzinziruk can upset Martinez?
Martinez relies to much on athleticism and not enough technical ability. A really good solid fundamental Boxer will usually beat an athletic one.. We shall see how good Dzinz is at this level.. The 1-2 and boxing of Pavlik turned the tide and you could see Martinez laboring a bit and not as sure of himself until he opened up the cuts on Kelly and then the rest is history..
Any jab will disrupt timing but a great jab is a game changer and forces different strategy and plans B-C which is tough for a guy like Martinez who tries to outspeed and beat you to the punch.. I can definetly see an upset, we shall find out soon enough.

I have watched a few Dzinziruk fights, and I do agree, I think Martinez should get plenty of crdeit for the fight. Without a doubt.
Totally agree with you on the inactivity also, things like that will never help. He really should have kicked on after beating Santos, and a beating it was.
Re: Does anyone else think that Dzinziruk can upset Martinez?
An upset because of how popular Martinez has become and the fashion in which he has won.
But not an upset as far as boxing ability Sergey has a Euro style that on a good night will give anyone problems.
Both guys like to take their time I think as long as Martinez stays busy punching he'll win.
I don't see an upset here.
Re: Does anyone else think that Dzinziruk can upset Martinez?
Dzinziruk is a solid fighter. Good jab. good defense. Good chin. Good head movement. Good stamina. And a strong right hook. Nonetheless, I think his good jab is not great enough to stop Martinez. Martinez likes to counter over the jab. It will interesting to see which one lands and be more effective. Dzinziruk good defense is just that. GOOD!!! No great cause he do get hit. The middleweight power that Martinez is carrying right now with his speed, is something special. I say good chin cause he have got caught and kept on coming. And his stamina have to be good for he went to the championship almost ever time.
It could very well be a good fight. But the Williams 2 fight was suppose to be great and that ended in 2.
Martinez by KO
