Six Nations 2011 - Rugby Thread
The 2011 Six Nations tournament kicks off Friday the 4th February with Wales taking on England in the first Six Nations game on a Friday. That'll take place at 7.45pm and looks like a sublime game to start the series.
I cannot wait for this tournament...
Rhun at least will be interested!

Best rugby tournament in the world - miles more entertaining than the Tri Nations.
I am travelling up to Scotland top watch the Wales game in February.!!!!
WE have too many injuries and not enough depth in our sqad (not too surprising when you consider our population is 2 and a half million, by some distance the smallest in the 6 nations)
Re: Six Nations 2011 - Rugby Thread
Alright X?
Yeah mate I believe it is the best tournament as regards entertainment/passion
.
That could be a great game, some Scots have performed really well throughout the Heineken and Magners.
Wales play with a raw passion, like Ireland many injuries, but I'd seed them highly.
French will be a danger though!

The French mostly win that is all I know.

The French are a strong side, but this has to be one of the most evenly contested tournaments in sports.
This year Ireland and Wales could be viewed as sides that are incredibly strong, but injuries see them under serious threat, particularily with Ireland playing the incredibly physical Italians away.
Re: Six Nations 2011 - Rugby Thread
Pretty exciting opening weekend!
England travelled to Cardiff to dispatch the Welsh pretty comprehensively (29-19.)
To me the Welsh looked pretty imaginative with andball in hand but their pack were undersized in this game and they suffered from the set piece.
The French opened their campaign against Scotland with intent. The 34-21 scoreline stood testament to the quality of their backs. Scotland were not a pushover though and seem to have developed imo.
Most fans saw the Ireland vs. Italy game as a foregone conclusion, but Ireland struggled desperately with the physicality of the Italian game. They trailed the game only to be rescued by super substitute O' Gara.
From the opening weekend it looks like a two horse race between the English and French.
However, the Welsh can casuse anyone problems as their Autumn tests proved and both Scotland and Italy look to be two teams on the up and up. Ireland two have a couple of returns from their list of eleven injured players, so looking forward to seeing nexct weeks games.

It was indeed, England looked pretty strong

I - TA - LIA!
Awesome win for Italy over France today....sensational bit of holding out at the end, and a good kick from Bergamasco to nudge them ahead with a few minutes to go. Delighted for the Italian teams, and not an ounce of sympathy for the French! :p
Now on to Wales thrashing Ireland, and (maybe) the Scots beating England tomorrow?
Re: Six Nations 2011 - Rugby Thread
That was great entertainment, well done Italy, yeah and nice to see the French suffer ;D
Re: Six Nations 2011 - Rugby Thread
Law 19.2 (d) about the ball going dead for the quick line out just became a star. Good win for Wales, as for the refereeing, that's life.

Great win for Italy, awesome stuff! Parisse is such a warrior.
As for Ireland vs. Wales, man, that was dire!
Kick, kick, kick, kick, kick... :-X

Do you think I meant just Wales?
Ireland were equally as bad! Both teams just kept kicking it to each other over and over, which is a shame, because both teams have exciting backs if they would just decide to use them. Rubbish stuff from both sides!
Re: Six Nations 2011 - Rugby Thread
Difference between Wales and Ireland was that Wales are able to string phases together with the professionalism and composure not to concede foolish penalties...
Italy- wow
