How different would it have been....
How much would boxing, its fighter's and it's history be changed if...
Hearns v Leonard 1 was a 12 round fight
Frazier had come out for round 15
Salvador Sanchez hadn't been taken so young
Hagler v Leonard was a 15 round fight
Jones Jr. had never gone to heavyweight
Ali had joined the U.S. Military and not had a layoff.
Monzon came along 15 years later.

Hearns v Leonard 1 was a 12 round fight - Sugar would have started soon. He had Hearns in serious trouble twice in that fight.
Frazier had come out for round 15 - If Ali also came out he would have killed Frazier and I do mean actually killed him. Joe took a hella beating in the 14th.
Salvador Sanchez hadn't been taken so young - He might have been considered the best feather in history. Always loved watching him fight.
Hagler v Leonard was a 15 round fight - Hagler KO14
Jones Jr. had never gone to heavyweight - he still would have lost to Tarver
Ali had joined the U.S. Military and not had a layoff. - probably passes Sugar Ray Robinson as the best fighter ever and Frazier wouldn't be considered a top 10 heavy.
Monzon came along 15 years later. - I'd settle for him just fighting a few more years and getting Hagler around 1979-1981
Re: How different would it have been....
Jones Jr. had never gone to heavyweight believe he would of not declined so quickly for sure, reckon he would not of been ko'd by tarver or johnson
Ali had joined the U.S. Military and not had a layoff. think 99% of people would of regarded him the greatest of alltime as a fighter but he wouldnt of been loved the way he is now though
Hagler v Leonard was a 15 round fight hagler wins
Frazier had come out for round 15 doesnt bare thinking abt
Re: How different would it have been....
Hearns would have won and modified his style and go on to beat Hagler ou pointing him.
Frazier had come out for round 15 and so would have Ali and boxed his way to a victory.
Hagler v Leonard was a 15 round fight and may have won a split decision.
Jones Jr. had never gone to heavyweight may have beaten Tarver but may have still got KOed by Johnson.
Ali had joined the U.S. Military and not had a layoff. He would have dominated and there would be no Fraizer trilogy.
What if Rocky Marciano fight was only 12 rounds against Jersey Joe Walcott?

Frazier had come out for round 15 Frazier by TKO... Ali wasn't coming out for the 15th.
Salvador Sanchez hadn't been taken so young Gomez would've beat him in a rematch.
Hagler v Leonard was a 15 round fight Same outcome. Bad tactical fight by Hagler.
Jones Jr. had never gone to heavyweight Would've gotten bored and lost sooner.
Ali had joined the U.S. Military and not had a layoff. No effect. Would've still been inactive professionally.
Monzon came along 15 years later. Would've had a true classic for the ages against Hagler.

Re: How different would it have been....
Hearns v Leonard 1 was a 12 round fight---Hearns would have won a UD.
Frazier had come out for round 15----Frazier was too shot to win anyway.
Salvador Sanchez hadn't been taken so young----no idea.
Hagler v Leonard was a 15 round fight---Leonard would still have won the mind game.
Jones Jr. had never gone to heavyweight----John Ruiz would be talking more crap.
Ali had joined the U.S. Military and not had a layoff.----may have got killed in Vietnam.

No way would they have allowed Ali to actually fight in the war.
Re: How different would it have been....
maybe, but how can you tell?

Joe Louis and other prominent sports stars had it easy and did a lot of promotional work. :)

Gomez didn't take Sanchez seriously for their 1st fight and did not train properly. For a rematch he would've trained in earnest. Not saying a win was a sure thing... but a loss wasn't a given, either. In any case, Gomez reportedly was very frustrated that he never got the chance to make amends for the 1st fight.

although i think he would have given a better performance, i don't think Gomez would have beaten Sanchez in a rematch, but i do think it probably would have been a decision loss, if anyone would have probably won a rematch against Sanchez later in his career if he hadn't died was Azumah Nelson
Re: How different would it have been....
How about if Little Red Lopez had beaten Sanchez and then fought Gomez? Talk about a war...I pick Lopez (having grown up an AVID, RABID Lopez fan), though I can see it going either way. What a war...neither guy really got started until he got hurt.
Re: How different would it have been....
What if Michael Nunn had beaten James Toney on points.
