Any quality boxing clubs in or around London?
After next summer, or in 2012 I am moving to England to study. It's been a great dream of mine to move to England and I'm really looking forward to it ;)
What I'm looking for is a quality boxing gym in/around London - I've been actively competing here in Norway and hope to continue to do so in England.
If you guys could help me out with a few locations it'd be easier for me to know where I want to move :)
Ofcourse a location near the school (which is as of yet unknown) is prioritized, but it'd be awesome if I could connect that together with a good boxing gym.
Re: Any quality boxing clubs in or around London?
Surely there must be someone with atleast a few recommendations? ;)
Re: Any quality boxing clubs in or around London?
London is a huge place mate. Maybe you could narrow it down to which part of the city you are going to be staying in.
Islington boxing club between Crouch End and Finsbury Park (North London) is a nice gym which caters for all abilities. That's all I can come up with tbh.
Re: Any quality boxing clubs in or around London?
Just any gyms in genereal in or around the city. Just trying to map down a few of them so I have a better outlook of what's available in the area :)
Islington. Thanks, I'll check that out.
Re: Any quality boxing clubs in or around London?
Islington was the 1st club I coached at in London, good people running it Reccommend. Theres the Lodge Lambeth, Repton Bethnal Green and West Ham all good Clubs
Re: Any quality boxing clubs in or around London?
Islington really gave off a good first impression. All the trainers there seem to be very educated and dedicated. The local is also something I'd never dream of to have here in Norway - We just got a small area filled with nearly no training equipment at all. Though I can't complain 'cause our trainers are really good so we get by just fine ;)
Islington is the #1 choice as of now, to me it just seemed more professional and disciplined.
Lodge Lambeth didn't return much of a result apart from a facebook page. Couldn't find any info about the trainers/locals or any of their athletes. If anyone have a good relationship to Lodge I wouldn't mind knowing abit more about it. I might just take your word for it and start there :)
I didn't find too much info about Repton either, seeing their website is still under construction. I found a youtube video however futuring some of their boxers aswell as some photage of their locals. Seems like a very good club!
West Ham looks very good aswell, but are they being shut down? www[dot]facebook[dot]com/group.php?gid=102627169216#!/group.php?gid=102627169216&v=wall
Couldn't post any links as I have yet to post 5 posts :(
Thanks Scrap and 1-hit. Just what I wanted :)
Re: Any quality boxing clubs in or around London?
Adam Booth runs a program in kent somewhere that is supposedly good although not sure if its still going this year
Re: Any quality boxing clubs in or around London?
I looked up Adam Booth and to be honest I don't think I would get along with this guy too well :p
Besides he's training proffesionals? I can't take that step yet :o Some good amateur clubs is what I'm looking for ;)
Re: Any quality boxing clubs in or around London?
Fitzroy Lodge in Lambeth is what you should have been looking for.
Re: Any quality boxing clubs in or around London?
Hey guys sorry if u have seen my previous post about northolt abc. Just for the record, i didn't get into boxing then & heard northolt abc is now defunct but i really am looking to now.
From July i really want to start training, i want to challenge & push myself to be in the best shape i've ever been. Also despite being short sighted, i want to learn a boxing technique, spar and maybe even compete in a amateur match.
Therefore, if any1 can recommend boxing clubs preferably in the west of london, or even south west london, who can definetly help push me to do this.
PS: i live not too far from Hayes ABC but i hear you can only join if you intend to start a career in boxing...
