Can anyone recommend a good biography of Paul McCartney?
I'm reading John Lennon: The Life right now (it's kind of disillusioning, the guy, while fascinating, was a complete douchebag) and it's really made me interested in reading one about Sir Paul.
Any suggestions?

Any particular reason? I don't really know enough about him to formulate a real opinion, but it's hard to look at Lennon the same way after reading his bio.

The best McCartney book is supposed to be "Many Years from now" I haven't read it though.
Best beatles books for me:
Revolution in the head - it's actually an in depth look at every single song they recorded - it is a simply amazing pice of work
The Beatles by Hunter Davies - He spent 18 imonths with the beatles in 67 & 68 and is their only ever authorized biographer.

He's famous for helping the disabled. He gave millions of pounds to a one legged woman.

Many Years from Now by Barry Miles is a really good book and gives a kind of alternative view of McCartney. A really good read.

The Hunter Davies book is very whitewashed according to John Lennon and his later biographers. The Beatles and their people had complete control over what was allowed in the book. Which isn't to say it wouldn't be a good read, just that it's not accurate in many ways.
