Yup that worries me a bit I don't know how Kelly's power translates to 168-174 lbs, But I do know Kelly takes big shots well and has good recuperative ability. If he comes back close to 100% I'm pretty sure he'll be a threat to anyone in those weightclasses.

:vanish: Can't touch this.
Re: Kelly Pavlik will be back!!!
If Pavlik can get back to the fighter he once was a fight with Froch would be outstanding. I think Froch pummels him at this point, but Pavlik used to be one hell of a fighter.

I think Pavlik will be relegated into those "what if" fighters. Not as extreme as lets say a Tony Ayala or Ibeabuchi since he did become a lineal champ at a weight division, but he is an underachiever imo.

Yeah, you could be right. He might be remembered as the type of guy who could have been so much more than he was had his personal issues not gotten in the way, but he's still young enough to turn everything around and to make his struggles little more than an impressive footnote in his career. And I say this as someone who has actively rooted against Pavlik for pretty much his whole career.
Re: Kelly Pavlik will be back!!!
I think Pavlik is done as a championship fighter. He'll still beat the Brian Vera's and Peter Manfredo's. But the top names take him. He'll become the white Edison Miranda
Re: Kelly Pavlik will be back!!!
I think Froch destroys him, at this point. He may get back somewhat but not at that level in my opinion. He could probably beat a Miranda, AA and such at 168, but as far as Ward, Butte, Froch..i just don't see it for him. But who knows, with the way the WBC ranks people he probably will have a title shot his first fight back.

he's fighting some Lopez dude on the undercard of Pacquiao/Mosley, and he already beat Miranda when he was worth a damn, i think if his head's right he could give Froch probs but he'd still probably lose
Re: Kelly Pavlik will be back!!!
I was a huge Pavlik fan after the zertuchi(?) fight, but it became apparent that anyone with movement could dominate Pavlik, and I was proved correct when Pavlik fought Bhop and then Serge beat the lights out of him(although I thought Pavlik did well for about 5 rounds). Anyone that can move and create angles, will beat Pavlik pretty easily.
Re: Kelly Pavlik will be back!!!
Froch v. Pavlik would be a great fight. As Pavlik states in the article if you look at their common opponent, Jermain Taylor, Pavlik looked much better than Froch did, and Froch was fighting Jermain after Pavlik had brutally knocked him out. A lot of the same things that give Froch problems are the things that give Pavlik problems, e.g. movement. Let's be frank, Bernard would chew Froch up too.
Right now, I can't argue with Froch having the upper hand going into a fight with Pavlik - he has been in with much better opposition over the last two years - but, the fight isn't happening right now. It'll happen after the S6 finishes when Froch has suffered his first humiliating loss to Andre Ward. Assuming Pavlik stays away from alcohol, which is a big assumption, Pavlik should have gained his confidence back by then and the fight will be very interesting. Pavlik just needs to stay away from Bute in the meantime.

pavlik was losing to taylor in their first fight as froch was
yes he landed a big punch earlier
second fight taylor looked gun shy against pavlik, i think getting straight back in with pavlik was a bad move for taylor, after such a devastating KO he was always gonna loose the fight

Pavlik was down on points, but is because Taylor put him down, otherwise, the fight wasn't too far apart at the time of the stoppage, and the stoppage came in round 7 or something, not at the end of round 12. There's no argument that Pavlik looked better than Froch against Taylor in both fights.
