I now there much more than just hitting a heavy bag for increasing punching power etc. Could you give examples of as many variety of exercises that will benefit or boost my power?

One thing I found that helps was to practice your punches while holding hammers.
Get a standard hammer or mallet and hold the handle just underneath the head. Throw your punches as you would normally, and you'll find that the weight of the hammer head will make your fist turn naturally as it should.
Note: For safety, have the "hammer part" of the head facing you, rather than the claw part incase you bring your fist back and accidentally poke your eye out. Or use mallets and avoid the problem.
