My brief thoughts on the game
Having had a few hours to get used to it tonight, I have decided that I like it a lot. I miss my favourite fighters (Toney and Barrera), but have been playing as Calzaghe and have been doing okay. I started a new career and having realised what XP is about have realised that it isn't that tough. Before I was simply never upgrading my skills. As usual I have taken on the qualities of my fighter and have been having a riot. I haven't been getting many KO's, but I don't really care as I enjoy boxing the pants off people. That has always been my thing.
I haven't attempted the story mode yet as I am saving that for my post Calzaghe career when I have fully refined my skills, but hopefully that will be just as fun.
All in all I think EA have done well. It's a really fun game.

You have the same approach as me, only with more patience... Not only did I begin Story Mode after the 3rd day of buying the game... I gave up about a week later!! ;D
Maybe I'll come back once I'm done with Legacy Mode

But I like how the XP system works.
At first I thought I was rubbish and in turn the game was rubbish too. I had no idea it was because I hadn't worked out what XP is.

What game is this? For xbox 360?

It's probably on that format too. I have a PS3.
The gameplay has really grown on me now and I am quite comfortable in the skin of Joe Calzaghe. When I am playing I honestly do go into my own little fantasy world and think it is me fighting. I try to emulate how it is I think Calzaghe would act and fight accordingly.
I refuse to touch the story mode until I am the GOAT.
Fifa is a really good game too. Have enjoyed hours of fun playing as Liverpool.
Re: My brief thoughts on the game
I'm strange in that I can really get into a video game and play for hours, and then forget all about them for a year or so.
I was playing Fallout New Vegas which I was really enjoying. I got 30 hours in and haven't loaded it up in a fortnight. I refuse to play any other games until I finish the previous one, always been weird like that, only one game at a time for me, so I need to get it done.
I'm looking forward to two games this year. The Witcher 2, can't wait for that, and Skyrim where I will create my character as Gannicus from Spartacus and lock myself away (Ok I'm already locked away) for the 100 or so hours it will take me to complete that.
I've never been able to master any games that require skill, so first person shooters are out. Role playing games is where it's at.

Pretty much the same approach to gameplaying that I have. I can only play one game at a time. I get really into it and then when it's completed it's time to move onto something else. I've had this Fight Night game a fair while, but haven't really played it because I was so into completing my Fifa 11 career.
I had a hairy evening earlier today. I was fighting a guy with a considerably higher skill level than my own and instead of resting before the fight went to an event so that my stamina was pretty shot from the off. He put me down in the first round and I was in trouble again in the second. I had no other option but to fight defensively and shoot quick fire combinations to his body. After 5 I was 3 rounds to 2 down according to Atlas and it didn't help that I kept getting stunned. Still, I fought smart and in the final round was able to trade instead of outhustle and I managed to win 7 rounds to 3. Probably my worst showing, but I learned my lesson. Had four more fights after than and won 2 of them by knockout. No rounds conceded. I am now well in the top ten and will hopefully get my shot this year. Just got to make sure I don't mess up with these events getting in the way
It's a cracking game and I am glad to see that there is one harder level than this to try at. This game hasn't been all that tough, but all of the previous games were far too easy, especially number 3. I haven't tried online yet, but am a bit wary after what I have been reading about on here. I like an even playing field and people who use the punch control like I do.
Re: My brief thoughts on the game
the xp in career mode, legacy mode is all well and good
but once you go online an can't find an even match up it ruins it - because you can't win against those with significantly higher ratings
