Bradley given 48 hours to sign for the Khan fight
AMIR KHAN'S world light-welterweight title unification clash against WBC and WBO champion Tim Bradley is on the brink of collapse.
Their 12-rounder is due to be staged in Los Angeles or Las Vegas on July 23, but the cash-hungry American is unhappy with his £825,000 purse.
Bradley was last night given a 48-hour deadline, but WBA champion Khan is planning an American jaunt this week to line-up a new opponent.
Richard Schaefer, CEO of Khan's promoters Golden Boy, told Sport of the World that Mexican great Erik Morales, lightweight sensation Robert Guerrero and IBF champ Zab Judah are under consideration.
Bolton's Khan has agreed terms and although Bradley's promoter Gary Shaw is happy with the deal, the fighter and his management are stalling.
Schaefer added: "Gary has until early next week to secure Bradley, but it looks like he is having second thoughts.
"The good news is that there are many A-list fighters willing to face Amir in July as they consider him the top fighter in the 140lb division.
"Whatever happens with Bradley, Amir will be fighting in the United States on July 23 and we should be able to name an opponent in the next seven days."
The three venues on hold for Khan are the Mandalay Bay Events Centre in Las Vegas, Los Angeles Sports Arena and Anaheim's Honda Centre on the outskirts of LA.
Khan, 24, is planning to start training at Freddie Roach's Wild Card gym in late May to prepare for his fifth defence of the title he took from Andreas Kotelnik in July 2009.
If Bradley fails to sign all HBO dates have been taken till the fall that will be a long time out of the ring
Re: Bradley given 48 hours to sign for the Khan fight
I think Khan looked poor against Mcloskey, if i was Bradley i'd sign right away feel a little hard done by about the purse but bash up Khan and he'll be the man to beat and can call the shots.
There is not a lot of time for Khan to improve on the Mcloskey fight and on that performance i would have to go with Bradley.

I like to know where Bradley thinks he's going to get another 1.4 million dollar payday, fuck what Khan is getting, just sign the contract, beat Khan and write your own ticket.

It's not that.
Bradley is guaranteed $1.2m for his next fight regardless of whether he fights Khan. So he might aswell (from his point of view) take that and fight a beatable opponent, and then take the Khan fight after and pocket $1.4m.
Smart business sense really. Bradley isn't a ticket seller, and if he lost to Khan, i'm not sure where it would leave him in terms of future earning prospects. So he might aswell cash in on HBO's stupidity while he still can.

Zab Judah is the IBF Champ how is he not one of the top contenders at 140 after Bradley he would be number 1 on the at 140.
Re: Bradley given 48 hours to sign for the Khan fight
shows the quality of the depth in the division  considering he won the vacant title from everyones favourite fighter Kaizer Mabuza and yes I looked him up on boxrec because no fucker else has heard of him either.
Re: Bradley given 48 hours to sign for the Khan fight
Bradley should take the offer, he has never turned a fight down and taken the best there is. Bradley is not afraid, he probably getting a raw deal with options on a promoter he does not want to work with.

If he is thinks like that he's not very bright is he?
Khan could lose, then where would he be?
Re: Bradley given 48 hours to sign for the Khan fight
In this era of risk and reward and its twisted definition, why should Bradley fight Khan for 1.4 when he can fight the town janitor for 1.2 on HBO?

Well yeah, but it's probably close to being a 50/50 fight. So he might aswell take similar money for fighting a gimme, and then take the money for the Khan fight. Khan is unlikely to fight anyone who has much chance of beating him.
If Khan does lose, and the Bradley fight doesn't happen, Bradley will only lose $200k which isn't much considering he could end up making $2.6m. Smart if you ask me.

Zab Judah got a gift when he won the title, but he did beat Kaizer Mabuza which was a decent win considering he beat Kendall Holt.

You referring to the Mathyyse fight? He won the title against Mabuza, the title was vacant.
Yeah if Bradley is gonna get 1.2 for fighting anyone, he should take that easy money.(Why would HBO make such a stupid agreement?) He has fought decent opposition and beating a b level guy wont ruin his rep at this point. Let Khan fight Maidana. After that Bradley would have to sign for the amount offered because not too many other options for the money. Rematch of fight of the year is always a good thing.
