Smoger Explain why he let Lebedev crack RJJ with the last punch
Smoger Explains Why He Let Lebedev Crack Roy Jones - Boxing News
"I didn't stop the fight because there were only a matter of seconds remaining in the fight and it seemed that Roy was pretending, trying to trick his opponent," said Smoger. "He did this repeatedly in the fight. So I thought Jones was doing the same thing here, trying to deceive Lebedev in the final seconds of the fight in order to lure Denis in to land a big punch [which Jones managed to do in the previous round]."
Well, he has point. A valid one.
But fuck it, Roy shouldn't have been fighting in the first place. He doesn't even look like he trains anymore.

very sad to see roy becoming a punching bag for every half decent boxer out there
at least holyfield is still able to sufficently defend himself, roy is just getting the crap beating out of him and nobody close to him seems to wanna give him that nudge out of the sport he desperately needs
Re: Smoger Explain why he let Lebedev crack RJJ with the last punch
He hasn't changed his style of fighting, he still thinks he's super quick like the old days. He cant get away with having his left low anymore. He doesnt have the reflexes he used to use for defense, that why he's getting hit more and more. If he fights again, he really needs to try a different style of fighting, he may get away with it for a few rounds, but he cant do it a whole fight like before.

Yeah, Roy looked out of shape for the fight. Time to call it quits, which probably should have been like 7 years ago.

I think offensively his speed is still there, that right hand that put Lebedev into the ropes in the 10th was lightning quick and I personally think it was a knockdown. But his ability to move and shoulder roll has greatly diminished which would also be a confidence thing. You get knocked out once while doing something youve done for yrs, its going to put doubt into your mind. But his reflexes have been shot for a long time.

I didn't even have any idea till my dad told me that he'd seen on Sportscenter that Roy had just been knocked out, that he was fighting. I mean when the heck did Roy find the time to train? He's an HBO analyst now.. when did he train for this fight or have the time? H didn't even look in Roy Jones shape, it's a shame but.. when was this fight signed? Why was it under the radar? I mean.. Roy was an analyst on HBO a few weeks ago and bam now he's fighting for the cruiserweight title? Why is he even still fighting?
Re: Smoger Explain why he let Lebedev crack RJJ with the last punch
Is he still playing basketball to stay in shape.
Guess netball is not the best way to train for a contact sport.

Sad to see Roy get beat up like this, it's time for him to hang it up. It's sad to see a all time great being knocked cold like that.

Like the style that Mosley used in his last fight.
RJJ seems to already be unconsious and on his way down when he received the last hit.

That's why skill and craft are so important. They survive diminution of reflexes and talent.
