Better Power, Wlad or Haye?
I have to laugh when I either read or watch a clip where Haye says he has better power then Wlad, I mean, is Haye really that deluded or is he just trying to blow smoke up everyone's ass?
My thoughts are, Wlad has faced and defeated a dozen or more HW's who have better power then Haye, and he's knocked out almost 50 opponents out of the 58 he's faced, all at HW. Haye on the otherhand has been in a whopping grand-total of 26 fights as a pro, 21 @ crusierweight, with only 4 of those @ HW, with a ball busting 3 KO's. I imagine Wlad is scared shitless. :rofmaoal:
Re: Better Power, Wlad or Haye?
I personally think 'power' in the heavyweight division is irrelevant.
Guys that big all have the power to KO each other. It's about who can land.
Haye has the power to Ko Wlad. To me that isn't an issue it's about weather he can actually get a clean shot on wlads chin.
Sure wlad may have fought bigger stonger guys than haye but they were all, big fat heavy, slow and with limited ability.
It's a similar conversation to who is stronger, batman or the hulk. It's irrelevant, pointless and you have no true way of finding out.
Re: Better Power, Wlad or Haye?
If we're talking about brute punching power, Wlad is obviously the heavier-handed guy but that doesn't make him the better puncher... Haye claims to have more power than Wlad, Im not sure what he meant by that because power comes in many forms but if he meant it lilerally, then i disagree with him..
But my view is that haye is the better puncher due to his speed and punch selection while Wladdy hits harder punch for punch..
Haye is the better puncher but Wlad is the harder puncher.
Re: Better Power, Wlad or Haye?
Wlad hits harder , but Haye has good power also , first big punch to land ends the fight.

Sensible post..
Re: Better Power, Wlad or Haye?
It's not even close. Wlad by a mile. But power is only one element of punching effectiveness.
Of course Wlad is also more accurate, more active and has more punch variety.

I don't see that, it's possible in Wlad's case that one big punch could flatten Haye, but not necessarily the first one. In re: Haye's power, it's vastly overrated, and it's not going to be easy for him to land a big flush shot on Wlad, but if he does, that doesn't mean Wlad's going anywhere.

There's something to go by, knockouts in HW fights, Wlad will soon have 50, Haye has 3, there's nothing irrelevant or pointless about that. You make it sound like Haye is on equal footing with Wlad, which to me is fucking ridiculous.

Haye has 3?? would you like to go and check your facts? Semiskur, Bonin, Barrett, Ruiz and Harrison = 3? ???
Personally I think Haye is the BETTER puncher. He has an average punch landed rate of 46% which is ridiculously high. I don't know what Wlads is but i'd bet it isn't that high. And his power has definitely followed him upto HW. My biggest concern for Haye is his stamina and how rash he gets when he has his man hurt. Look at the Ruiz fight, the first 2 punches he lands really badly hurt Ruiz because they were beautiful straight punches. Now if he had just picked another 1 or 2 like that the fight would have been over in the first round no doubt IMO, but he went in like a bull in a china shop SWINGING (straight fast shots are the key) like a mad man and that burnt him out for quite a while after. If he fought a little more carefully when he had his man hurt his landed rate would be even higher. Another good example was the Harrison fight. The first couple of shots landed and then he just swung for the fences and finished that fight with a career low 20% punches landed. Now luckily he was fighting an absolute bum who didn't know what to do anyway. If he makes this mistake vs Wlad he could well get caught out.
Now I have no doubt if he picks his shots against Wlad, that his speed and reflexes will be too much for the bigger slower man (I have been saying this for about 5 years now). But back to the question of BETTER POWER?? Well this is a hard one. IMO there is no doubt Wlad is stronger but Mariusz Pudzianowski is stronger than any HW boxer but get them to punch you and see who hurts the most. Punching is about technique and both men are very good punchers. I would say Wlad is maybe slightly ahead of Haye in power but I don't think it's much different. Haye is much more willing to let the big shots go early whereas Wlad tends to wait until there is no risk left before he lets his go. I think people on here get too caught up in the size issue. When you get a man over 210lbs who can punch well he is going to seriously do some damage. Now I'd say Wlad will outweigh Haye by 20-25lbs on fightnight but does that mean he will hit harder? NO. If Wlad was to fight Valuev he would be outweighed by around 75lbs but I have no doubt who the BETTER puncher is. But then you could turn it around and bring a prime Foreman into the argument and Wlad would outweigh him by around 20lbs and Foreman would win that power test.
To go out on a limb I say Wlad hits slightly harder while Haye hits faster and has more devil in his punches and confidence from the get go. One interesting fact though is the only common opponent, Monte Barrett, actually says Haye is the Better puncher but he would struggle with Wlads size. This was a couple of years ago just before Haye pulled out of the original fight. Now for me Haye has grown into HW a lot since they fought almost 3 years ago so his power will probably be much better now.

Oh fuck, how could I have possibly overlooked, that Haye also knocked out 2 other "Heavyweights", Semiskur, who out of 46 HW fights has an outstanding 17 wins, 28 lossess, and 1 draw, and Bonin, who outside of Poland nobody has ever heard of, for a grand total of 5! Grasping at straws rjj tszyu? Your boy is going to get his ass kicked on July 2nd, get used to the idea, it'll upset you less come fight night. ;D

I guess there's always the possibility that Haye could hit the lottery and land something big that hurts Wlad, but I believe the chance of that happening is close to zero, Wlad isn't that easy to get a clean flush shot on.
Come fight night, I picture the Brit announcers pissing their pants and shouting themselves horse, and Haye's fans going berserk every time Haye even lands a love tap on Wlad, but real, effective punches from Haye will be few and far between.
Re: Better Power, Wlad or Haye?
Wlad has trained power off solid set up shots. His big punch lives in the shadow of the ever present extended jab though. Hayes just a bit erratic with wind ups. I think him trying to prove his one shot power will ultimately be his downfall as he runs into a patient hitter with killer timing. Right.down.the.middle.

I'm leaning toward this being a total mismatch, I can't think of a scenario, where Haye can win. I figure Haye has 2 choices, fight to win and get knocked out, or fight to survive and still get knocked out.
I just noticed that this fight is going to be on HBO July 2nd, most likely on a tape delay here in the U.S.
