Re: Jack Kerouac documentary
Kerouac is a funny one and it is remarkable how negatively he seemed to react to success. He seemed to hate his life before becoming successful and then once he had 'made it' he became dejected some more and basically drank himself to death. A quart of liquor a day is serious stuff. That's like a litre! The thing that strikes me about Kerouac's best work is the vibrancy and optimism. He actually paints a very positive image and even a car journey becomes some kind of epic adventure. It kind of makes me want to drive around Korea in the shape of a smile going along the coastline and then write about it. However, nobody will go with me and I will likely have to write about myself. It probably wouldn't be that fun. It would turn into some kind of Poe style tale of forboding and epic misery.
Still, I'm a big fan of Kerouac's work and everybody needs to read "On the road" at least once. It's just as important as Bilbo's Bible.

You uncultured swine, I was hoping there would be at least one other beat fan to converse with.
