Re: Tuesday boxing trivia
without cheating I will have a go at this, all straight forward it would seem but I am already unsure about the first
#1. How long was Joe Louis Heavyweight Champion?
A - 13 years
#2. In what division, and at what weight did Oscar De La Hoya begin his pro boxing career?
A - lightweight (or maybe the one below !)
#3. Who did Jack Johnson win the Heavyweight title from?
A - it was Burns and I have forgotten his first name :-\
#4 Big George Foreman won the Heavyweight Crown by a 2nd round KO from Joe Frazier in January 1973, how many times did Foreman defend the title and how long was he Heavyweight Champion before losing it to Muhammad Ali?
A - The Rumble was in October 74 I know that so in 21 months I will guess that Foreman defended it.....I only know that Norton was defo one of them. Will go for 3 !

#1. How long was Joe Louis Heavyweight Champion? He beat Barddock I think in 1937, retired in 1948 still champ came back and lost to Ezzard in I think 1950. So depending on how one counts either 11 or 12+ years.
#2. In what division, and at what weight did Oscar De La Hoya begin his pro boxing career? I think Oscar began as a 135, but dropped down for one fight o beat Bredahl at 130.
#3. Who did Jack Johnson win the Heavyweight title from? Tommy Burns in Australia
#4 Big George Foreman won the Heavyweight Crown by a 2nd round KO from Joe Frazier in January 1973, how many times did Foreman defend the title and how long was he Heavyweight Champion before losing it to Muhammad Ali? Wasn't the Rumble in October of 1974? So, what? 18 monhs. I think Foreman only had two defenses before that. cheers
That's all without cheating. But now I gotta go see how I did.
Re: Tuesday boxing trivia
#1. How long was Joe Louis Heavyweight Champion?
Louis won the Heavyweight title in June 22, 1937, in Chicago, by knocking out James J. Braddock, and retired undefeated as champion on March 1, 1949. So roughly 11 years and 8 months.
#2. In what division, and at what weight did Oscar De La Hoya begin his pro boxing career?
Marble got this right, Oscar started his pro career as a Lightweight (135) but moved down to Super-feather (130) for 1 fight.
#3. Who did Jack Johnson win the Heavyweight title from?
From Tommy Burns, in December 1908, at Rushcutter's Bay Stadium, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Johnson kept the Heavyweight title until April 1915, losing it to Jess Willard in Havana, Cuba.
#4 Big George Foreman won the Heavyweight Crown by a 2nd round KO from Joe Frazier in January 1973, how many times did Foreman defend the title and how long was he Heavyweight Champion before losing it to Muhammad Ali?
After winning the Heavyweight crown from Frazier, Foreman defended it twice, against Jose Roman, (KO 1) and then Kenny Norton, (KO 2) pulverizing both guys in the process. Foreman held the HW title, for roughly 1 year and 9 months before losing it to Ali in Oct. 1974.

Re: Tuesday boxing trivia
It’s still Tuesday.
Most consecutive knockouts?
Most first round ko’s in a career?
Youngest debut of a pro fighter?
Biggest live gate at a boxing event?
Title holder with the fewest fights?

Geeze I was just doing the most consecutive KO's thingy the other day. Isn't it some guy from Utah who KO'd 44 Mormons in a row? Larry Clark?
Most first round KO's? I'll guess Zarate.
Youngest? Didn't Baby Arizmendi get paid at like eleven years old?
Biggest live gate? No idea. Tyson and somebody?
Title holder fewest fights? Didn't the flyweight Kittekasem (the really good one who beat Jung Koo Chang and Sot Chitlada) win a strap in like his ninth fight? For that matter didn't Davey Moore too?

That pretty impressive Marble.
1 Lamar Clark
2 Young Otto. Followed by Tiger Jack Fox.
3 Baby Arizmendi age 10 followed by Baldock, McCoy, Nelson and Carpentier all 14.
4 Tony Zale vs. Billy Pryor
5 Saensak Muangsurin
