Mikey Garcia & Russell Jr: Which FW prospect impresses you more?
Russell is blessed with more natural talents but that doesn't make him superior..
Who do you think has more substance?
Re: Mikey Garcia & Russell Jr: Which FW prospect impresses you more?
I really like Garcia & where he's at right now but Russell Jr is an outstanding talent. Skills wise Jr impresses me more but Garcia is more of a favourite!

Pretty much.. I like Garcia more also .. He's not flashy nor exceptionally fast but he's a well schooled fighter with good fundamentals.. It's too early to say but I feel that Garcia is better suited for the upper echelons..
Everybody has been raving about Russell and i think he's a great potential and all but Id like to see him face some adversity before labeling him as the next whatevers.. If I had to nitpick a flaw of his, it's his lack of head movement. The dude has no head movement and if Miranda had any real technique or power, Russell would have been in trouble.
Juan Carlos Burgos would be a perfect test for Russell..

I think Russell fights down to the level of foes recently...sort of goes through the motions the other night to me and when not on the attack can be found with shots when he backs.

Take this with a grain of salt, but for what it is worth, Malignaggi said that Gary Russell reminded him of Eddie Hopson.

Al Haymon handles Russell and i hope he doesnt go down that Berto route.. He needs to step up his comp now. I wanna see Hozumi Hasegawa kick his ass.

He looks like much more of a flat footed stalker then Hopson, stronger but I don't think nearly as fast of feet or hand. Hopson was a damn Jack rabbit.
