Classic example of Old Lion vs Young Lion
Walcott vs Marciano comes to mind. Could this be the time when Floyd simply crosses over into that vague, undemarcated zone characterized by imperceptible decreases in hand-eye coordination, timing, and execution? We have seen it all too many times, and we were always amazed by it, WHEN THE OLD LION'S TIME IS ECLIPSING, and the New Young lion was just a little too energetic and determined and tireless, to Old Lion's great surprise.
Could this Ortiz fight be just one more of these classic cases of the Changing of the Guard?
Time will tell, just a few days now.......this will be interesting indeed.

No, it's not. It's going to be a slaughter. Mayweather will beat Ruiz easily. I wonder if the loss will be so brutal it'll damage Ortiz's career indefinitely.
Re: Classic example of Old Lion vs Young Lion
Yeah youre probably right. Did you mean Ortiz and not Ruiz?

Yes, sorry.
Re: Classic example of Old Lion vs Young Lion
I hope you are right but highly doubt it. Loved it when Tyson beat Holmes, Norris beat Leonard.
Re: Classic example of Old Lion vs Young Lion
if it was 18 months from now after Ortiz had a few more victories against good competition at 147 then I'd be confident of a changing of the guard. But at this point, I think Mayweather should be able to weather any early storm and outbox Ortiz down the stretch to a UD or late TKO.

Mayweather ain't the slaughtering type
Re: Classic example of Old Lion vs Young Lion
damn right. He's the dawdling type. This fight is easy to foresee ending in a UD fr mayweather. or the coward Ortiz may quit like against Maidana.
In any case, no slaughter, thats a fact.

..youre calling Ortiz a coward? A guy who will fight anyone and is fighting the best in the world tomorrow? Yet werent you the guy who wanted to use your 'size advantage' to beat up some koreans?

No I dont think it does...but you did, that was the only reason you were going on about it. You were saying how the korean boxers werent very good....so you wanted to fight someone coz they werent good at it. Ortiz is fighting a top 2 P4P boxer, Mayweather is a massive favourite to win this fight and has been the whole time but Ortiz is still going to have a go. Fighting when your chances of winning are small shows courage.

Its not ALL it shows. Its also why Bruce Seldon fought Mike Tyson, i.e. can you say MEGA-CASH?
Re: Classic example of Old Lion vs Young Lion
Lots of people are saying its time, but I think the old lion just has enough left
