This is pretty straightforward as I can see it. EITHER...
Cortez told them to box on or whatever and so Victor just didnt defend himself cos he was trying to say sorry and got done. Floyd wins by KO.
OR
Cortez hadnt told them to continue boxing and thus Mayweather should be DQ'd. Ortiz wins by DQ.
Anyone care to add?
Cortez is incompetent, but by the letter of the law you can't dq Mayweather. It was pathetic though, Floyd should be much better than that.
cortez has no idea whats going on anymore, but what mayweather did was legal

I just saw a replay of the whole thing actually. Cortez does say either 'Lets Go' or 'Box On'. So Ortiz just fucked up. Mayweather did a bit of a bitch move in a sense BUT Ortiz had just headbutted him so im kinda with Floyd in a way. Either way its a legit KO by the rules.

And Floyds attitude with Merchant was appalling. Floyd needs more than a slap and at least 10 more headbutts. The best way to get him is to take his purse.
The incident needs to be investigated and the result possibly overturned. Cortez simply stood and watched. He should at least have given Ortiz time to recover. It was a cheap shot and nothing more.

Im genuinely not sure Ortiz ever heard Cortez saying Lets go, I think he was too busy thinking about apologising and saying sorry to Floyd etc. Why else would he turn to Cortez after the 1st punch Floyd lands?

But i'm thinking even if Cortez didn't call time in, it still wouldn't be instant DQ for Floyd and the fight handed to Ortiz... I would have thought that if it went different and Ortiz got up after a floyd punch outside time, then Floyd would have lost a point as well.. Not been instantly disqualified...
But the fight was stopped because the punch KO'd him.. If it was an illegal punch, the best it would be is a No Contest maybe? ie it's not an act that gets you instantly DQ.... punching before a ref says box.?
The butt definitely landed. Floyd had a bleeding mouth from it.
