Jermain Taylor applies for license in Nevada
JT applied for his license in Nevada. It goes through its first stage Thursday during a meeting of the Nevada State Athletic Commission's medical advisory panel. I thought Taylor would be done by now, it's been two years now. I wish Taylor would just stay retired, he had a good career but has taken some big punches.

I hope he can bounce back strong.
He's a good guy.
Re: Jermain Taylor applies for license in Nevada
If he can make the weight he'd represent the best opponent at 160 for Martinez imo.
I think that would make for an interesting and fun fight.
Re: Jermain Taylor applies for license in Nevada
Personally I hope he and officials think twice about entering a ring again. I think he's a spent shell and will be rushed into a big fight on name value and visibility and get torched badly.
Re: Jermain Taylor applies for license in Nevada
I think Jermaine has had sufficient time to re-group and evaluate if he still has something to offer boxing. If he believes he has then he should be allowed to give it a go. Good luck to him, he may come back an improved and hungry fighter. He does need to take it slowly and steadily.
Re: Jermain Taylor applies for license in Nevada
If he has nothing left then go for an immediate big fight and let it all hang out. Otherwise build himself up possibly on ESPN. :)

Head traumas are the mother of all bitches. I wish him naturally all the best but in my heart, I feel like it's not the best decision possible and that remaining with kids and wife would be the best for his future.
Re: Jermain Taylor applies for license in Nevada
There are guys that have been ko'd more & worse than Taylor that are still fighting, he'll get licensed & if matched right against the likes of Sturm, Geale, Sylvester, Chavez Jr, Mora or a Spinks rematch he can hang around a bit

I agree. The time off will do him some good.
Re: Jermain Taylor applies for license in Nevada
There are much lesser fighters than Jermain Taylor who get KO'd on a much more regular basis than him who get licensed to box without any problems. If the guy wants to fight and he feels good and passes all brain scans etc. I don't see any problem. He's never going to be the greatest fighter of all time but he can still be involved in some great dust ups if he's looked after well and I'd look forward to watching him again.
