Ortiz -Mayweather Rematch, anyone?
First question, is a rematch worth watching? I say yes. Ortiz is giving Floyd a run for his money, and it will be quite interesting to see how the fight will progress. Ortiz was able to hit floyd in the body with hard shots and floyd was able to hit ortiz clean in the face. For me, we can only tell who's been dominating the fight in the later rounds -- a thing we failed to see when ortiz did his head butting.
Second, is Ortiz deserving enough for a rematch? I say no, because of what he did. its the biggest fight of his career and he just shows everybody that he cant handle pressure. He got frustrated and overly aggressive that he loses his control and did things he knew was very wrong. This guy needs more experience before he gets a rematch. I can also say yes, because of the manner in which the fight ended. Floyd clearly launched a legal sucker punch. I watched the video and he kinda faked a bit and then boom, boom... Its a big fight and feels really odd for a fight with such magnitude to end just like that.
Third, does Mayweather confirms right after the fight (during the Merchant interview) that if Ortiz wants a rematch, he can get a rematch?
Well, yes, he did say that.

Floyd says a lot of things
Re: Ortiz -Mayweather Rematch, anyone?
I don't see the point of a rematch, Mayweather was on his way to dominating Ortiz and he would in a 2nd fight.
Plus, the only fight Mayweather needs to be thinking about now, is one with Manny Pacquiao, enough of the ducking, tomato-cans, and excuses.
Re: Ortiz -Mayweather Rematch, anyone?
Nope. No more easy paydays floyd. I want to see him in a real fight.
Call sergio
Re: Ortiz -Mayweather Rematch, anyone?
Is a rematch worth watching? Definitely. Floyd was on target with accurate punching, however Ortiz was walking right through them. Ortiz was getting to Floyd's ribcage on the inside and I think it was hurting Floyd. It's hard to say who would've won, so I think a rematch is in order. I had the same score HBO's Lederman had, and I feel I score fights pretty well.
Does Ortiz deserve a re-match. I have really mixed emotions about that. I'm not convinced that this whole fiasco wasn't fixed. OK, probably not, but I didn't see Cortez say box, nor did I hear him say it. Time was not in. I fail to grasp the insistence by the NVAC that it was.
And in my mind, if the fight was fixed, both fighters were in on it, and both profited from it. (Not to mention the ref, and maybe even old Larry Merchant as well.) And if that's the case, both should face sanctions of some sort. But as it is now, we just have to take the word of the folks in charge of NV boxing.
Maybe I missed something, but if Cortez had called time in, or said "box", then he would not have had the shocked look on his face when Ortiz went down. The instant Floyd saw Ortiz looking to Cortez to call in time, he lowered the boom. Floyd knew that he was throwing a sucker punch.......he knew that Ortiz had no clue it was coming. Floyd knew it was going to probably be a long night, and that he may not win. So he ended it early.
What Cortez was looking at, I don't know but it wasn't the fighters. He lost control and then pretended he didn't, and NV Athletic Commission backed him up.
Ortiz should not have headbutted Floyd. No excuses. But Cortez took a point, so, that pretty well deals with that.
Frankly, I have to wonder if this thing was fixed, it has that funny smell. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, but I hate shit like this. Such being the case, I don't care to ever put another dime into Money's pocket. The rematch should be half price PPV or even free on HBO. But I don't expect to see a rematch for the same reasons Floyd threw the sucker punches, he is uncertain (maybe) of the outcome.
Floyd should fight Pacquiao or Sergio Martinez next if there is no rematch. He likes to talk about his legacy, but until he fights one of these guys in a controversy free fight , his legacy will remain marred by duckbills photo-shopped on his face and replays of the cheap shots he KO'd Ortiz with.

Next time you see him in an interview and he's asked Ortiz's has asked for a rematch and you've been on vacation now for 12 months, You said if "Ortiz wants a rematch, I'll give it to him". Floyd's response will be "I never said that".
Re: Ortiz -Mayweather Rematch, anyone?
I have no interest in seeing Floyd fight anyone other than Manny Pac. Otherwise he can bugger off with his ungentlemanly and cheap conduct. No other fighter in the world would sucker punch like that. Floyd has no shame and that is why we will likely never get the Pac fight. Floyd is a punk and only ever punks out these days. Weight cheating, fighting ancient men and now sucker punching. How much lower can Floyd go?
Ortiz doesn't deserve another huge pay day either. He should fight Maidana or Berto.
