Does anyone remember when Jerry Quarry stopped Earnie Shavers?

I didn't, I was looking for some info on Jerry Quarry's tragic life and ran across his fight with Earnie Shavers in 1973, pretty impressive KO for Jerry.

yeah that fight is impressive, I watch it a few times a year. Quarry stayed really tight and short with his punches in that fight, Shavers was a bit wide and Quarry snuck in a left hook that really hurt Shavers and he never recovered. Exciting fight.

Yes, it is probably Quarry's biggest win of his career.

Quarry was a bad ass.

Shavers could dish it out, but he couldn't take it.

I don't remember that fight but I recently watched his fights with Patterson. During the late 60s, when he was a little lighter and younger, Quarry was something to see.

Don't remember that, But I know Shavers was working as a night club bouncer in Liverpool until quite recently, he may still do...

A long time ago, the LA Times ran a story on Jerry Quarry, how he was living in Sun City (near Hemet in Southern California), and they mentioned that, every day, he went to this particular bar and spent all day there. I wanted to meet Jerry Quarry so I drove down there and waited.
After about three hours I went outside to buy the local newspaper. On the bottom half of the front page was an article about how Quarry's son, after seeing his father on tv and feeling he was being over-medicated, had shown up the previous day and removed him from the facility where he was living him and taken Jerry home to Northern California.
