Who was the most hated fighter of all-time?
I know alot of people hate Mayweather and Haye, but I think there may have been some others even more hated in boxing history. I will say I think Prince Nasim and James Toney were 2 fighters who were very hated. And John Ruiz would be a distant 3rd place followed by Zab Judah.
Re: Who was the most hated fighter of all-time?
Margarito
Mayorga
Johnny Nelson
Re: Who was the most hated fighter of all-time?
Luis Resto
Mike Tyson
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Re: Who was the most hated fighter of all-time?
Mike Tyson in modern times, when he was jailed for rape, although I believe him when he said his wife lied about the rape - now shes one of the most hated women in AMerica, she doesnt even have a proper wiki page, shes so scared of getting mobbed, God she was so dumb. Mayweather is respected as well as hated big time, what a mix.
Sonny Liston, big time hated.
Over in the UK Fraudley Harrison was regularly booed.
Jack Johnson was hated by the a lot of 'white' America (not that i believe in distinguishing by colour, seeing as there are a hundred bloody shades we come in), although those were different times when Americans used to go round and lynch blacks regularly - pretty barbaric times far removed from what we are today. But as a percentage of the population I would say he had the most hate aimed at him.
Re: Who was the most hated fighter of all-time?
Mike Tyson did not rape his wife, he only hit her with his back hand. He raped the baeuty pagent contestant.
Re: Who was the most hated fighter of all-time?
I'd say it has to be Ali in his exile.
Re: Who was the most hated fighter of all-time?
Of all time is a shit load of time...
I would say; Max Schmeling, Jack Johnson & Ali.
The hate that Zab, PBF & Tyson have/ahd is not even close to what the 1st ones I mentioned faced.

Great call on this one...
For all great things he did, this moment in his life was easily his darkest hours.

Re: Who was the most hated fighter of all-time?
John Ruiz
NAZ
Hector Camacho
Oscar De La Hoya
Re: Who was the most hated fighter of all-time?
Mundine took the crown for a whole year after the 9/11 comments.
Max Schmeling was a good call the hatred of the Nazi regime was some weight for him.
Re: Who was the most hated fighter of all-time?
Simply on a personal level, it has been James Toney and Audley Harrison. Simply the mention of the name makes me bristle, and I think both have been an embarrassment to the sport in their own 'special' way.

Jack Johnson easily heads the list, I've always been amazed that he wasn't strung-up by the KKK, or killed by a white supremist, et al.
Ali certainly had his share of hatred, but unlike Johnson, Ali was revered as much as he was hated, I never cared for him as a person, but damn he was fun to watch boxing.
Max Schmeling left for Germany after he lost to Louis in 1938, and although there was a lot of Anti-Nazi/German sentiment in America at the time, there was also quite a bit of pro-German/Nazi, sentiment. In 1938, the Nazi's were still a few years away from being rejected/hated in America and elsewhere in the world.
Contrary to popular belief, Schmeling was not nearly as hated as some in the media then and now would have you believe, and not all Americans were hoping that Louis would win the rematch. ( I hate revisionist history)

And that leads us back full circle to the white supremacy fuktards. ;)
