Who checked the "Chin Checkers" (Jaidon Codrington and Curtis Stevens) ?
I remember Stevens and Codrington were two can't miss sensational NY prospects a few years ago. Both guys were called the "chin checkers" because they were knocking guys out left and right. Both were featured heavily on "Broadway Boxing" on HD NET.
Then Stevens got stopped by veteran tough guy Marcos Primera.
And Codrington was nearly killed by Allen Green.
Then of course Codrington had a thrilling war with Bika then disapeared.
Stevens for all his talent lost to Jesse freakin Brinkley !
What went wrong for these two ? Stevens especially looked awesome early on...

If I remember correctly The Don had some medical thing that forced him to retire although it was never explained what it was.
I'm not sure why Steven's stopped, but the amount of talk he made leading up to his getting mugged by Brinkley may have been too much pride for him to swallow.
Re: Who checked the "Chin Checkers" (Jaidon Codrington and Curtis Stevens) ?
haha.. I remember first hearing about the " chin checkers " back in 04 if i remember correct. Two loud mouthed prospects talking mad shit after knocking out bums left and right. I knew they were nothing but hypes, although i felt Jaidon had a little more substance.
Going into the Allan Green bout, Jaidon was really going overboard with all that macho talk, making false promises about how he's gonna do this and that. Green was an undefeated prospect as well but he had more experience and Jaidon had no idea what he was getting himself into. Jaidon was one thing, but Curtis and the whole crew were turning this real ugly, really trying to get inside the head of Green.. Prior to the ringwalk, his crew disrespected Green's family who was there to support him and Green took this personally.. and the rest is history...
That was one of the most brutal KOs ive seen in the past 10 years, straight up. I thought Jaidon was dead. I really was scared for the dude... Minutes after, the whole crew jumped in the ring and nearly caused a riot... Poor Curtis was wilding out fter watching his chinchecker buddy getting KTFO in matter of seconds lol. Dude actually tried to reach for the gun of one of the security but he was taken down quick haha..
Then during the post fight interview, Green appeared as though he didnt give a fuck.. Without any concern for his fallen opponent, he actually gave a shoutout to his sponsor saying something along the lines of.. " If you want to buy a car, come to Oklahoma Motor " lmfao all non chalant..
I remember him taking some heat for his lack of humility but he made it clear that his family was being threatened and disrespect so he took this fight very personally..
Jaidon Codrington is currently an Atlanta Police officer.. Dude was supposed to comeback at 175 but i guess that near death experience inside the ring still haunts him...

BULLSHIT.
Also, Codrington's "near death" experience didn't prevent him from KO'n Brian Vera and going to war with Sakio Bika and dropping him.
I will admit, I too thought Codrington could be dead with that knockdown. It was scary.

Im not going to look up the that archive but you can.. That gun incident was documented and Green himself confirmed it during an interview.. I still have that fight in my collection and i think people forgot just how chaotic it was after the KO..
Beating Vera and going to war with Bika doesn't indicate that he's the same fighter.. Anybody halfway decent and healthy can beat Vera but that fight with BIka damaged him , pretty much finished him. He took too many serious punches in a 3 year span..
He should stay being a police officer..

I would venture to say that going for a cop or security officer's gun would get you shot or at least a substantial jail/prison sentence.
Vera is better than you give him credit for bro. He beat Andy Lee and just recently beat Sergio Mora.
Sounds like Codrington is finished.
Can't forget his Dad committed suicide while he was away on the Contender, that had to mess him up as well.
