IF Toney beats Lebedev, could he meet B Hop?
I must admit, I'd love to see that fight.
These two should have fought each other and I wouldn't rule out Toney completely against Levedev, who by prime Toney standards is a pretty ordinary fighter imo.
I have no idea what he will be like at 205 but I think it's not out of the question that he can put on a good show, I mean nobody expected Morales to offer anything at all against Maidana.
If he won, man that would make things interesting. He'd have a world title and two names, Hopkins and Tarver would likely be very interesting.
Hopkins was going on about moving up to heavyweight to fight David Haye. That was nonsense, but cruiserweight to meet James Toney. It's doable and for the hardcore fight fan I still think it's an intriguing matchup.
I really hope Toney can turn back the clock as I'm one of those rare guys it seems, that actually likes watching these old legends battle it out.
Hopkins, Tarver and Toney all at cruiserweight fight each other. That's good stuff.

I dont see Toney going any lower than 200 ( it's a miracle what he currently weighs )..
Hops has to move up and if he does, he gets beat.
Id love to see it though cuz it's one of the best fights that never happened sooner.

I'm not sure he can't move up to fight Toney. Toney isn't really bigger, he's just fatter.
There's probably very little actual muscle and lean tissue advantage for Toney. Hopkins would not have to cut weight and would come in probably strong at 200 whereas Toney must still surely struggle to get and stay at 205 seeing as he's normally 240 odd.
I think it's a tough match to call.
Re: IF Toney beats Lebedev, could he meet B Hop?
Toney is in great shape right now and is bang on making CW. He is going to beat Lebedev and show that he still belongs. I can't wait to see a slimmed down Toney again.
As for Hopkins? Toney would knock him out at CW. Hopkins is way down in my estimation.
Re: IF Toney beats Lebedev, could he meet B Hop?
Dont forget RJJr Miles! Toney has been fuming for about 20 years over Roys schooling of him now. Toney would love that match above all others imo. And that can be made win or lose vs Lebedev.
I dont think Hopkins will ever happen, I think BHop plans on staying at LH for a while yet. I also dont think he would ever take on anyone at Cruiser unless they had a world title, so Toney would need to win one first for sure to even consider a possibility.
Tarver though. That could happen if Toney beats Lebedev. I'd watch it.

i would want to see toney vs hopkins at any age.....the lead up to the fight will be entertainment 101....and the fight itself will be equivelent to watching a chess match...literally....like a move every minute...still, this is the type of fight i want to see as a boxing fan

Hopkins would stall the action at the first sign of danger but i still wouldnt mind seeing it just to see who wins. It wouldn't be pretty though. Toney doesn't have much mobility at this stage and he'd be so easy to tie up which is hops' favorite tactic. Throw one punch and move in headfirst for an immediate clinch. He would do this all night. Fortunately for TOney, his inside game is second to none so it'll be really interesting to see how he handles Hopkins close.

Re: IF Toney beats Lebedev, could he meet B Hop?
Bilbo, congratulations on managing to squeeze two of my least favourite fighters into a thread with only three names in it. B Hop is boring boring boring to watch, and while he may be very good at what he does, it just doesn't make for entertainment in my view. As for Toney, he always talks big and fights lazy. Hopefully Lebedev sparks him, and he can go and do stuff that I don't watch. Like Strictly Come Dancing. I hear they like old boxers who are a bit rubbish.

No, I don't think they will.

I'd love this fight too. Not really for the fight but the press conferences
Toney already came out with some classics
"Bernards mum must have been fucked by a goat" (because of his righthand headbutt combo)
"i'll knock that ugly snaggletooth fucker into outer space"
;D
