The finalists from the Super Six Tournament, Andre Ward and Carl Froch, got together for a discussion with Jim Gray called Staredown. It's the same concept as Faceoff on HBO, although you downgrade from Max Kellerman to Gray. In any event, fans watching Bute vs. Johnson on Saturday night got a preview of this special, and you can find the video preview of the Ward vs. Froch staredown interview right here as well.



It actually looks pretty interesting, with the two getting heated with one another. Ward goes on a rant talking about how Froch doesn't like when he's not in control, and he's not in control in this interview, and he's not going to be in control in the ring when the two of them square off next month. Definitely a lot of quotable material in there, and there's surely more to come. Should be a good special to watch before the Super Six Finals (Finally) take place.

My god, Andre Ward has one boring personality to match his boring fight style. I think for the good of exciting boxing Froch needs to smash him to pieces and beat some personality into him. If he was any drier and devoid of excitement Ward would turn to dust.

I'm thinking 70% Ward on points or 30% Froch late KO.

I'm telling everyone now froch has one chance and that's to walk ward down and fight like Timothy Bradley or froch will b mutilated

Ward really is a chump. Ward, whose whole career has been about controlling any chance of losing a borderline decision by fighting exclusively at home has the temerity to accuse Froch of being afraid of not being in control. Also this false modesty bullshit about being brought up not to call yourself great whilst hanging a moniker like "Son of God" around yourself ? Jim Gray is not "narrating this" he is acting as mediator and journalist asking the questions not doing the voice over. No Andre you are not "getting too deep" you are in too deep and are seemingly unable to take a step back and look at the situation objectively. You are out of your depth and Carl has got your number. He hasn't had an enforced training break and will be too fit, too unrelenting and too tough for you come fight night.

Definately one of those fighters with a true 'win' mentality; He's just not interested in playing silly bollocks, or showing off or actually exuberating any more flair than is necessary to win.

It's true he doesn't take advantage of his physical gifts as much as he could. He would afford himself the luxury of actually enjoying himself if he did but that's not his style, not his plan... He's a very focused and cock sure guy.
They say youth is wasted on the young, I think he'd say experience is wasted on the old... Andre Ward has an old head and I think he is fighting as he means to go on. His body is in immaculate condition and more importantly his skills are engineered to last.

If it's in his plans to, he can stick around for a LONG time.

Like I say, it all depends on what is in his mind. He is a man of God and has obviously set himself a path - a means to and end from which he never deviates from. His win mentality is actually his comfort zone, it's quite scary. I think Froch is in for a ridiculously embarrassing beatdown.
