If Frazier won the 3rd fight where would we put him all time?
The greatest?
Better than ali?
The same?
Just a thought? I wonder how different things may be if lets say it was Ali (who collasped soon after the end of the fight) had gone out for the 15th and collasped or retired after the 14th.
I know its all things which could have happened but what do you tthink?
Re: If Frazier won the 3rd fight where would we put him all time?
Then we're up for quite the alternate history aren't we? Frazier is top 5 if he takes 2 of 3 from Ali IMO. Foreman probably rematches Ali and by blasting Frazier out in 2 fights Foreman is probably top 3. Larry Holmes probably gets a little more credit and maybe we get treated to some fights like Frazier-Lyle or Frazier-Shavers and if Foreman were to beat Ali in a rematch then perhaps we see Foreman-Holmes and I think that COULD have put one of those guys in contention for the #2 best heavyweight ever.
But thats just my view and I've got Joe Louis as the #1 heavyweight of all-time due to his 25 successful title defenses, missing a couple years of his prime due to SERVING HIS COUNTRY in World War II, and well he was just a class act in the ring, great Champion, none better!
Re: If Frazier won the 3rd fight where would we put him all time?
He would still be below ALI on the list..
Even if he had beaten Ali in a trilogy match, U gotta look at their resume/accomplishment and it's hard to put him over Ali..
Re: If Frazier won the 3rd fight where would we put him all time?
Yeah great question. I have Ali a slamdunk at #1 all-time but if he lost 2 to Frazier I'd probably have Louis #1. Frazier as it is right now makes my top 10-12. I'm guessing he's top 6 if he takes 2 from Ali. Foreman destroyed Frazier and I'd have him rated over Frazier even if he won 2 or 3 from Ali becuase of those wins.
