Who thinks compubox was used for deception on saturday?
Compubox (An unofficial punch stat system) recorded pacquiao landing 176 punches and out landing jmm by over 30 punches.
I have watched the fight 4-5 times and I barely see pacquiao land any punches at all. I would be shocked if pacquiao connected with 50 punches the whole fight. I'm not sure if you saw the hbo broadcast of the fight but it was clear they were ok with pacquiao winning based on compubox stats and effective aggession.
What effective aggression?
Pacquiao could not land.. when he tried to become aggressive for the majority of the fight he could not hit anything. There were many times in the fight where you see manny go in to desperation mode bum rushing and throwing 6-7 wild punches that clearly miss.It was clear as day that pacquiao's aggression was INEFFECTIVE.
Was compubox used to convince the ignorant boxing fan that pacquiao beat marquez on saturday night? Do you truely believe that pacquiao outlanded marquez by 30 punches? Do you think it's even possible that pacquiao landed 176 punches in this fight?
Or was it hbo being biased towards manny from the opening bell so that they don't lose manny pacquiao to their rival network showtime like they did for the shane mosley/pacquiao fight.
IMO there needs to be a massive investigation for this fight.Marquez clearly won and there's too many pieces of the story that do not add up.
Re: Who thinks compubox was used for deception on saturday?
How can you possibly argue with compubox?
You know how it works, right?
The fighters have sensors in their gloves which records every LEGAL punch landed. It sends this info to a super computer. Missed and illegal punches are immediately rendered null-and-void.
To think your EYE is more accurate than compubox is utterly absurd.
Compubox provides bombproof statistical evidence. Fact.

I know you are kidding but posts like this cause confusion to pactards and they will start saying compubox is a fool proof system. There excuses and reasoning spread like a disease.

Flomos and Pactards should have their own forum.

I don't see where they got their numbers from, I didn't see pac land many clean shot and marquez definitley landed more cleaner effective shots. I do believe that the only reason everything played out the way it did was to keep the big money fight with mayweather alive. If Marquez got the decision there would be no record breaking mayweather fight. so they used compubox as a reason to why pac got the decision to fool the ignorant casual fans (who aren't as ignorant as they thought). If we go by compubox then in that case marquez should have got the decision in the first 2 fights. Its just the same as when these young prospects end up in a close fight against a fighter he should beat the prospect always gets the decision, just because he will make more money for the promoters and everyone involved. Can't think of many examples off the top of my head but mike jones - soto karass comes to mind.

anyone who thinks compubox is foolproof note the Kirland/Angulo fight. If you have it dvr'd I'd suggest watch round 1 again and count the punches attempted by Angulo.
It said round 1- Angulo 37 of 74. I didn't bother to count punches landed because that is tedious.
I rewatched the fight and counted the punches attempted by Angulo. Kirkland went down and was back up and fighting. From that point till Angulo had almost completely punched himself out (1:08 left in the round), Angulo threw over 80 punches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you don't believe me watch it.
Just from the time Kirkland got up from the knockdown to about 1:08 left in the round.
Angulo threw around 18-20 punches before Kirkland went down. Angulo threw punches in the final minute and 8 seconds.
Compubox says 74 punches attempted when he threw at least 35 more than that.
That is a rather huge margin of error. HUGE.

Watch it in slow motion
Re: Who thinks compubox was used for deception on saturday?
So you're telling me you think manny landed 176 punches and more punches than marquez?
Re: Who thinks compubox was used for deception on saturday?
Compubox is just a novelty, it only exists to add another talking point.
Anyone that actually tries to use Compubox as a means of justifying or criticizing a fighter's performance is either:
A: An idiot.
B: Naive.
C: Both.
For fook sake, it is just a couple of guys sitting at ringside pressing buttons, with only 1 viewing angle and a laptop. They are just as prone to corruption, mistakes and bias as anyone else.

There are actually Iphone Apps for punching stats now. So, you can do it yourself and see if the punch stats match. I think it is somewhat useful to pick up trends of a boxer and when it is really one-sided.
It could be done better if they had two different sets of people doing it at the same time and if they went back after the fight and checked it before releasing it to the public.
Of course, the number of punches that were thrown and landed is just one factor as to who won a round etc.

This is very interesting.
Re: Who thinks compubox was used for deception on saturday?
Compubox means very little if anything. Mainy cause they try to group these stats as a whole instead of round by round. If a guy lands 300 punches in the first but gets outlanded in the second and third then he's still down on the cards so what difference does it make. Secondly it's just another opinion like every other biased thing on hbo. Linares who hbo barley if ever mentioned before the fight made the guy seem like sugar ray leonard and robinson, ali, tyson and pac all mixed into one at the begining of the fight just to have hip chopped up by demarco by the end. Just how emmanuel said it was going to go in the begining..............
